I would be interested in any info you might have and maybe I will have info you might be interested in. We are currently working on Rushing family and have several pictures and info on Rushing, Keele and Kimbro. We have been trying to put together the Rushing Cemetery where Able Amanda John etc. were buried as someone has destroyed most of the stones. The home built by Able Rushing still stands in Woodbury Tenn. and is onthe national historical list as we have toured it recently. Any info and or pictures would be appreciated. Thanks Charlotte

Would like to contact all descendants of Aubrey Rushing. We are working on his Rushing family and have a picture of John Richmond Rushing taken after the Civil War. We have a great deal of data about John R., deeds, war record, Tennessee's application for pension, etc. Betty

Good morning. I'm related to some of the Oxford, Mississippi Rushing relatives. My mother was Patsy Ruth Rushing (Guyton). She passsed away a few years ago in Atlanta, GA. Her brothers were George Rushing (passed away last year), Richard Rushing (passed away approx 4 years ago), Grace Rushing who lived in TN to be near her twin daughters(she passed away too), and there was another sister. Pauline Rushing who lived in Michigan i believe. Tom Rushing was another brother who passed away several years ago. I have quite a bit of information on that side of the Rushing family and would be happy to share with you.

Re: William Rushing (1720) lines?/kids?

I have a looseleaf Genealogy titled "Rushing Through the Generations", by Peggy Rushing Sims. She shows the following (I have summarized):

William Cain Rushing was in Montgomery, AL prior to 1830. There are records of him buying land in Montgomery Co. in 1831. He married Mary Rushing (thought to be a 5th cousin)in 1830. They moved to Pike Co., AL after 1837. They had 10 children before Mary died. William later married Mary Ann French, and they had 2 children.

William Cain was born in Beaufort District, SC (probably around 1800). He was the youngest son of Mathew Rushing and Elizabeth (Thornhill) Rushing.

Hope this helps.

If you have additional information on this line, I'd be interested in learning more about them.

Thanks for the information. Sometimes it just helps so you can eliminate someone from your list. There were so many William Rushing, it's hard to figure out one from the other. I think they are mostly all related but I'm still trying to figure out where mine fits.

Bounty-Land Warrants for Rushing's in Alabama

My ancestor Margaret Rushing (VA) was married to a William Rushing (NC). While researching in Montgomery I found a loose copy of what appears sale of property that belonged to Margaret Rushing at one time. Further research I found CAHABA Doc 7 issued 12 Apr 1820 showing 360 acres West of Alabama River. Entry Classification: 'Indian Allotment General.' I also found other land sales with a William C. Rushing. I would like to somehow connect the two but don't know how? I know that in 1776 officers and soldiers in military service and their survivors received bounty-land warrants upon application.

Can anyone shed any light on above information. How can I find out how she acquired that land? How do I match parcels of land? I'm looking for a paper trail in other words.

Sorry I am unable to answer your question but I have one for you. My line descends from a Margaret Rushin(g) who was married to William Rushing. I've not proven that but all information I've seen reports this including some of my cousins. We have a William Rushing in Montgomery Co., Ala in 1830. I have found a Margaret Rushen(sic) with 350 acres West of Alabama River (Indian Allotment General)issue date is 1820. Whereas I believe this to be my Margaret Rushing I'm still worrying over Mr. Rushing. It appears that William 'C' Rushing of Montgomery County made full payment 24th of April 1820. As I understand she was widowed sometime between 1834-37. You do have any information on ancestry that would connect this William C. Rushing to the North/South Carolina Rushings? I wonder if this could be Wm. Claiborne Rushing who moved to Miss? Perhaps he is the son of my William Rushing?

Your family is included in books and the Internet. It is just that many people don't publish much information about living persons online. That would be an identity theft issue. Go to Google and enter "Wilton Edward Rushing" with the quotes and you will find your family back to 1810 when Matthew Rushing of South Carolina moved to South Mississippi.

Looking for info on Elbert Rushing who was killed along with his wife Lessie Hunt and son Woodrow Wilson Rushing by his other son Clayton Rushing in 1947. I can find there Death Cert. info on pilot.familysearch.org but I can't find any census on them at all to establish their family.
I am writing a book about Murders in Northern Texas and I at the end of each story, I write a mini genealogy for each person. This family has eluded me. I know that Clayton was not the son of Lessie but I can't find anything on him at all.
Does anyone know this Rushing family?
