John Russel - Kansas City, MO - February 1904

"The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Monday, February 8, 1904

ILL A WEEK WITH NO MEDICINE.

John RUSSEL, a laborer, staggered into police headquarters
yesterday afternoon and dropped into a chair in front of the
captain's desk. He had been sick of pneumonia for a week and
was so nearly exhausted that he could hardly stand. He said he
had been at a lodging house near Third and Walnut streets for a
week without medical attention and had risen from his sick bed to
go in search of a physician.

He is 21 years old and came here from the Soldiers' home at
Leavenworth. Dr. GINSBERG, assistant police surgeon,
examined him and sent a hurry order for an ambulance to carry him
to the city hospital. The surgeon said the man was in a critical
condition, with discouraging prospects for his getting well.

======================================================
(I have no connection with this family but I'd appreciate
knowing if you found this posting helpful.)
johnobrien@kc.rr.com
======================================================

neirbo8
LABRECQUE? born c. 1845 in NY).

Their daughter, Emma Amelia, married David Nelson DEGRAY and became the mother of my grandfather, Walter R DeGray.

Mitchell and Lucy also had other children: Delia, Eben, Jerry, John, and George.

I can't seem to find any information on what his name was before it was Americanized, if it was, which I believe it must have been...perhaps Michel ROUSSEL? In any case, the Michel ROUSSELS I've been able to find don't seem to be the one I'm looking for.

If anyone has information on Mitchell's parents (or anything else), I'd sure appreciate it....

Thanks much,
V.
My two great grandfather, James M. Russell, was born in Trumbull County June 19, 1821. He married Mary E. Gleason from Madison County, N.Y. They lived in Paulding County, Ohio. In an 1882 book about Brown Township, Paulding County and its representative families, his parent are listed as James W. and Jean Ann Wolfcale Russell. This seems to be the same family as yours.

If you use the Wilmington Irish site, www.lalley.com, you will find alot of information on your Thomas & Elizabeth Russel. I also had Russells in Wilmington from the early 1850's but I don't believe ours are related. I do believe that there is another gentleman who might be connected to your Russel line - his name is T. Alan Russell. You might be able to find his information on Rootsweb or this board's archives.

I am looking for information about Nicolaas Russel. According to the records in Surinam, formerly known as Dutch Guyana, Nicolaas Russel was born in Dramma, Norway. He married in 1754 at age 35 Catharina Gerardina Cortina. This means he must have been born in 1719.
Nicolaas was a member of the Lutherse Church.
His wife Catharina remarried in 1760 so Nicolaas died between 1754 and 1760.
I think Nicolaas had at least 1 son named after him Nicolaas who was born in 1755 in Surinam and died in 1819 in Surinam.

I hope somebody can help me.

Russell, 1869 to unknown, g-great grandfather James M. Russell 1821 to 1879, 3 great grandfather, James W. Russell. James M. arrived in Paulding County in 1849 after fighting in the Mexican War. His father must have lived with him later in life. Could you e-mail me regarding any additonal information you have about the family? I know you posted info about James W. and the War of 1812 and origins in Scotland. I would be very grateful. There are other decendants in our family, if you would like more infomation.

Hi, My Russell search is for Thomas Russell who married my great grandmother, Mary Eichelberger, in Bulter County, Ohio, March 6, 1847. Mary had two children at the time. She kept one with her, Martin Eichelberger, and the girl went to live with another family. Thomas Russell entered the marriage with three children. Per the 1860 Ohio census his children were; Peter, age 22, John, 20, and Samuel, 16. Since Mary gave up one of her children at the beginning of the marriage, it is feasable that Thomas gave up one of his. I have no information where Thomas Russell came from. Thomas and Mary had two children during their marriage; Leah and Ellen, they both became school teachers in the Butler County area.

To Whom It May Concern: I know of no similiar names in my line of Russels. My Russel ancestor; James settled in Trumbull County c1806. My Russel lineage goes back to a Robert Russel born 1704 in Scotland. His son Andrew settled in Washington County, PA and died there in 1814. His son Robert died in Beaver County, PA 1820. His son James Woodburn Russel married Jane Wolfcale in 1810 in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio. They are my 4th greatgrandparents and were the parents of Caroline Russel Randolph.

Hello: Yes, it does seem to be the same family. I believe that it is Jane Wolfcale not Jean. An article from the History of Trumbull County stated that my James was James J. I believe that this is in error and that it is indeed James Woodburn Russell or James W. Russell. This is what a certified genealogist from NJ told me. I tend to believe that this is correct. We must be distant cousins; since James Russell is my third great grandfather! My lineage is as follows: Me; my father James Harry Lamb born 1905 died 1959; his mother; Anna Randolph Lamb born 1881 died 1964; her father James Clark Randolph born 1844 died 1924; his mother; Caroline Russell, born 1819 died 1901 and her father; James Woodburn Russell born 1785 Washington County, PA died 1869; Paulding County, OHio. Jane Ann Wolfcale his wife born 1792 died 1847 Mahoning County, Ohio buried in Cornersburg Cemetery, Trumbull County, Ohio. Her father John Wolfcale, Sr. Born 1752 VA or PA Killed Jul 1839. His father Abraham Wolfcale born c1731 father Possibly Johannes Wolfcale born Hueffelshiem, Germany died 1730.

I'm looking for Horace and Sarah F Russel family in Rocky Hill, CT in the mid 1800's. Does anyone have info on them? Children listed in the 1850 census of Rocky Hill, CT as Rufus A. 21, Elizabeth A. 18, Sarah G. or J.14, Ellen E. 12, Sophia A. 9, Alice L. 6.

I'm researching Hayfords and know that a Lydia Russel(l) was married to John Hayford originally of Middleboro MA and later CT and later Warren and Washington Ctys. in NY. That John Hayford would be my 3rd great grandfather. John had a dau. Joannah who married a Rufus A. Rising.

Looking for a connection to my great grandmother (possibly the Elizabeth A above) who may have been raised by a Russel(l) family after the death of father Solomon Hayford in 1842, and possibly death of mother, also. There were 8 Hayford children but Elizabeth is the only name I know for sure.

I have no information on Solomon's wife's name.

Has anyone heard of this lady? I haven't been able to come up with any information, other than her marriage to my gx2 grandfather Thomas Godwin. His burial records indicate that both Thomas and Eliza were from Carlton (modern day west Saint John) and were married April 06, 1854.

I have record of only one offspring, a son, Thomas E Godwin, b. circa 1854, d. 29 Oct 1917
Am researching siblings of my g-grandfather Thomas Irvin Hagler and know that they were orphaned in late 1860's.In the 1870 census Francis Hagler age 7 is living with Dwight Russel & wife Sarah in Cabarrus County. I wondered if you know how this child came to live with them? Was she kin to one of the Russel's? Thanks

stephen and charles russel

In 1880 census I found stephen and charles russel listed as step sons to henry wilson. It says their father was born in NC. The wife of henry is Amelia. I am at a road block. I can't even find a connection to Amelia and the boys. Charles never reappeared after that. Stephen showed up in 1910 with the last name of Russell. (added the L). They were all living in Clark Co, Washington. Any ideas? Help? The Wilson's were raising my grandfather, Edward Russell (listed as grandson) in 1910.

Lord Hugh Gordon & Marjory Russel -

Does anyone have information regarding Hugh Gordon & Marjory Russel from Scotland?

In the family tree I inherited, it has "Hew" Gordon and Marjory Russel as the parents of William Gordon (b. 11 Jul 1750) and Hugh (16 Oct 1761) William m. Anna Ross on 29 Dec 1767.

I found another record regarding Hugh & Marjory but this places Marjory at age 10 when she had William so I'm not sure if they are even the right parents.

Any further information regarding this family would be greatly appreciated!
