Hi Marilyn,

My family is also somehow related to Charles Marion Russell, the western painter, but I'm not sure how. It could be from my grandmother's side. Her name was Eleanor Howe (Crenshaw was married name), born in St. Louis, Mo in 1895. Her father and mother's names were Charles Howe and Agnes (Gallagher was maiden name) Howe. Charles Howe was born in Kansas City, Missouri and Agnes Gallagher was born in Moberly, Mo. I believe that the family migrated from Virginia.

Or, the connection to the Russell could have been on my grandfather's side. I have ever less information about him. His name was Louis Gustav Crenshaw, born in St. Louis, MO about 1890-1895.

My grandmother used to tell us about Charles Russell and how the family use to throw away his paintings thinking that they were too gaudy in those days.

Would you be interested in sending me your family tree to see if there is a connection?

Thanks.........Dale Crenshaw
