Looking for information/ancestry on a Bathsheba H. Ryder/Rider who was born about 1811, married David Webster 1833, and died June 28, 1843 probably in what is now Rockland, Maine. She is buried in Seaview Cemetery, Rockland.

At the time of her marriage she is listed as being from Vinalhaven, Maine.

There is a possible connection to a Desire (Ryder) Allen 1783-1858 of Vinalhaven and Matinicus Island, Maine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ryder and O'Malley from County Mayo, Ireland

I am trying to locate relatives who lived in Cincinnati from 1853 though 1913. John and Jane ( nee Ryder) O'Malley and their children, Mary bd 1831, James bd 1843, and Annie bd 1847 came to the USA in 1853. They settled in Cincinnati around 1860 ( listed in the census) and were Roman Catholic. The boy, James, mustered into the Union Army out of Camp Dennison.
The O'Malley children latter came to St. Louis around 1870. I don't know what happened to the parents, John and Jane, but assume they are buried in a Catholic Cemetery in Cincinnati and would have had Catholic funerals there.
In February 1913, the oldest girl, Mary then 82 years old, returned to Cincinnati around to visit family. She had a severe asthma attack on 2-17-1913 and died on 2-20-1913 ( the attending physician was J.D. Jones, 1014 McMillan). The informant was a Daniel Regan, 421 Central Ave., Cincinnati and he could have been family.
Mary O'Malley's Cincinnati's death certificate lists her Cincinnati address as 2607 Morman Ave. but the spelling is very hard to read ( could be Meramac or Morman). The Cincinnati undertaker was J.J. Sullivan. Mary's body was sent back to St. Louis for burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

I would like information on the following:

Sacramental records on the parents and children, such as death records on the parents and confirmation records for the children (James would have been ten yrs. old in 1853 and Annie 6 years old)

Catholic School records? Or how to contact the public shcool archives

Catholic Cemetery records? ( for a John and Jane O'Malley, possibly buried with Regans')

If you can assist me in any way I would appreciate any help or suggestions you could give me.

I'm sorry I can't answer your question, but you may have information on someone I'm trying to trace. I am interested in the ancestors of Ernest Welling Ryder, who was in Brooklyn in the 1870 census (and is my husband's great-grandfather). I have been trying to figure out if there is any way to tie him to Enoch H. Ryder, who I know was in the 1860 census with a son Ernest W. Ryder of the right age for my Ernest Welling Ryder. Any info would be appreciated--best of luck with yours!

Would be grateful to know if Enoch Ryder b 1773-1780 Sag Harbor, Suffolk, Long Island, NY was married to Penelope Franklin, daughter of John Franklin & Niobe Dodge or to Niobe Unknown (Dodge?) b1790-1793 Block Island; died 1878 Norwich, CT. Or are the two spouses the same person? The Southampton, NY 1850 census has Niobe b1790 in CT but her death record from the Norwich city hall has her being born 1793 in Block Island, RI. The Penelope Franklin spouse was also b in Block Island.

My wife and I are also tracing my family history. My grandfather (William George Ryder) died in 1920 at the coast hospital (we believe). He was also a drapers assistant. He was born in Surrey, England in 1853 and his father was born in Chelsea, London.
My father was Arthur Harold Ryder and his siblings were :William, Sidney, Evelyn and Alice (Kitty).
We are also having a lot of trouble tracing birth certs. Sounds like you may be a long lost cousin. My uncle Bill had a son called John and I only met him once.

Sorry cant help with a family crest.

I'm interested in your Aunts theory of the Ryders coming from England to Ireland, which may answer why you can only find an English crest. I'm quite confused about family religion my Ryder family were all Church of England and it was my mothers side that was Catholic. I think that is why I was so surprised at the Irish connection. You couldn't expand on what you meant about 'religious reasons'.

By the way, the Ryders in my family going back until Martin and Mary were all from Birmingham UK.

I have found that Jacob's father was Jesse Dewey Ryder not George. Eustacia Husted who was named as George's wife was in fact married to Jesse. I still cannot find out anything about Henrietta except she was born in 1834 and was from Wurtenburg, Germany

I've just discovered that my GGGgrandparents came from Ireland. This is a surprise as I thought that side of the family came from Birmingham UK, way back. They are Martin and Mary both born 1826 somewhere in Ireland, I'm now stuck and dont know how to go about searching in Irish records. A gg Aunt Elizabeth (Bessie) nee ROONEY of Knockfin townland married a Austin RYDER on 26 February 1870 at St. Mary's Church Westport County Mayo Ireland. I think this couple moved to Chicago in the 1880s but still researching this. Your John could be a possible sibling. Clew Bay Heritage Centre, The Quay, Westport County Mayo Ireland might have data to prove or disprove this. There will be a fee involved.The couple had a daughter Mary Ellen RYEDER 12 March 1871. I am also descended from the Canarsie Ryders. My great-grandmother was Alice Baldwin Miller, daughter of Elizabeth Mary Ryder, who was Nathaniel Ryder's daughter. How are you related?
I, too, was always told that we had Indian Ancestors. I think it is so strange that there is so much info on most of them, but nothing on Nathaniel's wife Susan. She may be the Indian.

Benjamin Harrison Ryder was b 1803 in NY, no exact location known. He died aft 1886 in Larue Co, Ky. He married Sarah Burba 1 Dec 1819 in Hardin Co, Ky.She was b 1800 in Ontario Co, Ny.
Benjamin Harrison's father was Joseph Jr Ryder, b abt 1760, Worcester, Ma. His mother was Mehitable LNUNK, born abt 1764, poss Connecticut. Have more.

I know this does not comply with your theory that his first wife was from Saffron Walden but have you investigated the John Rider, 39, b Little Shelford, living at Adam & Eve Row, Cambridge, in 1851 with wife Mary, 43. b. Cambridge. I see the death of a Mary Ryder was recorded in Cambridge in June 1853, before the marriage of John & Rebecca in Dec 1853.

( public record's of northern ireland )
I'm a "Ryder" decendant but not from your line.
There is also another public record'd dept for "Ireland" but the name excapes me right now.
I have tried to research other family name's in "Ireland" very difficult,do to religious persecution and the fire in 1922 that destroyed a vast number of record's.

Thursday, April 2, 1959

"A Fairhope(Baldwin County, AL) man, Aviation Machinist Mate William H. Ryder , was among four persons killed Tuesday in the crash of a U.S. Navy plane at Naples, Italy, according to dispatches from the Associated Press. Ten of the 21 aboard the twin-engine naval transport were hurt in the fiery crash as the plane attempted to take off. Relatives of Ryder in Fairhope said he had been stationed in Malta with the Navy the past two years, and his family, his wife, Mrs. Virginia M. Ryder , and three sons, William , 8, Jim , 6 and Jack , 4 had been residing there with him."

Was stationed with FASRON SP 201 on Malta with Bill. Knew him. I got off the plane because of a lack of money, before it left Malta for Naples. It crashed on takeoff on March 31, 1959, three were killed including Bill, and 13 were badly injured.
I have some photos of our base, the R4D before and after the crash (a terrible sight), and a copy of the memorial service. I also am in touch with two other members of FASRON SP 201 who knew him.

HI MITCH..I WAS ADVISED BY MY ELDERLY AUNT THAT THE RYDERS CAME FROM ENGLAND TO IRELAND, POSSIBLY FOR RELIGIOUS REASONS. UNFORTUNATELY SHE HAS SINCE PASSED AWAY AND THE FAMILY HISTORY STOPPED THEN. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO SECURE A FAMILY CREST FOR A MEMORY ALBUM THAT I'M IN THE PROCESS OF COMPILING..IT LOOKS LIKE THE ONLY ONE AVAILABLE HAS AN ENGLISH ORIGIN..BY THE WAY MY MAIDEN NAME WAS MARY FRANCES RYDER..

It seems I am unable to contact people through the connection service for some reason so thought best to post here.
Syd if you are reading I believe we have chatted before on email via Roz regarding Ryders and Rider and we may have connections. I am still looking for the first wife of John Rider b 1812 Little Shelford he and Rebecca Morley married in 1853 and they are my gt gt grandparents but John was widowed and I believe his first wife was Mary from Saffron Walden and they had children Wiliam, Mary Ann and Susannah. Thanks yes I have this Census and also when John Rider married Rebecca Morley he was living at 28 Adam and Eve Row.
So I believe this to be them. Not sure where the lead from Mary being from Saffron Walden originated. I must admit I am interested to know what happened to the children from Mary and John.
I saw a Mary Ann Rider in 1861 as servant at a boarding school but it would be good to know if all the children went on to marry and have children of their own. Can't always be certain you are follwoing the correct trail. Thanks
