Icing During Storm Causes Plane Crash
Worcester, Vt. (UP) Heavy icing during a snow storm apparently caused the crash of light plane Saturday in which two Hawthorne, N.Y. men were killed, an investigator said today.
State Aeronautics Commissioner Edward F. Knap said the single-engine Bellanca crashed shortly after taking off from Newport, Vt., Airport early Saturday.
Killed were Roderick Ryer, 24, the pilot, and his passenger, Herbert Hayes, 34. Their bodies were discovered in the wreckage.
