Need help finding information for Hans Jacob Ryff, Born about 1507 in Zurich Switzerland. His name might be spelled Hanns Jakob Ryff. Last name might also be spelled Ryeff or Rieff. His spouse is Elisabeth Gisi, born about 1512 in Bern Switzerland. Children: Hans Jacob born 1533 in Switzerland, death about 1628, Barbara born 1535 in Switzerland. ABILENE -- Doris C. Ryff, 90, Abilene, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008. She was born Doris C. Shane on July 23, 1917, in the Elmo Community. She had been a nurse for Memorial Hospital and Highland Care Home.

Survivors include her husband, Louis, a daughter and son, all of Abilene; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in New Basel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Danner Funeral Home, Abilene. Memorials may be made to the Breast Cancer Foundation, in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 758, Abilene 67410.

Biographical information: Louis was the son of John A. and Elvina Bethe Ryff. He attended the Morley District 48 rural school. On October 21, 1936, he was married to Doris Shane. The early years of their married life were spent farming in the Elmo Community. In 1955, they moved to a farm in the Enterprise Community. He had been an auto mechanic for Shivers Motors, Ronald Rice Motors and Green Ford. For several years he was a self employed auto mechanic. They had retired and moved to Abilene in 1995. Louis was a member of the New Basel United Church of Christ.
