Edward Rylands of Lakewood, Jefferson County, Colorado, died March 15, 2002.
He was born in Denver, Colo., June 9, 1929, the son of Edward E. and Lily Rylands. A carpenter, he enjoyed jazz, bowling, and golf.
Edward was a graduate of Lakewood Senior High School. He started as an apprentice carpenter in 1947.
Edward was active in local, state and national Carpenter and Millwrights Union for 55 years. He was elected as Business Representative of his Local 1583 and President of the Centennial State Carpenters Union.
He was a 50-year member of Lakewood Masonic Lodge 170 AF&AM, and served as a Demolay advisor.
Edward was president of Foothills Senior Golf League and he was on the Committee on Water for Colorado Parks. He also served in the Naval Reserve.
He is survived by three daughters: Lisa Murphy of Lakewood, Jennise Rylands of Lakewood, and Luann Husmann of Cheyenne, Wyoming; two grandchildren, Justin Murphy of Lakewood, and Kathryn Husmann of Cheyenne; two sisters, Mildred Reid of Lakewood, and Lil Shiner of Springfield, Missouri; and many nieces. nephews and friends.
The funeral was March 22, 2002. Burial was in the Rylands family plot in Crown Hill Cemetery in Lakewood.
Memorial contributions were suggested to the Denver Jazz Club Scholarship Fund.
