Hi,

I'm interested in this info. This is not my direct line but I am researching the RYMAL name.
I know that Milton had several brothers and sisters and was born in Chicago. I had been in contact with Milton's daughter by his first marriage.

Barbara

Hey Rymal inquirers ,I actually have the divorce papers of Milton Rymal and Anna M. Rymal May 23,1940 which I have after my father's passing in 1998 . My father was the son of Milton which makes me the grandson ! Also I have a newspaper clipping of Milton's death where it states his mother as Prudence Rymal along with a sister Minnie DePeuw both of Detroit ! It states that he "leaves" which means they were both alive at the time ! This also means my father had an aunt "Minnie" with children , cousins possibly out there ! Somewhere I also have recollection that Anna M. had a daughter which would be my father's 1/2 sister which means I would have a 1/2 Aunt and 1/2 cousins !
Milton ended up marrying Alma Frances Ferris in 1942.Alma is the son of Floyd Ferris from the Jackson Mich.area ! On Milton's marriage license to Alma (which I also have) it states his father as Oliver Rymal and his mother as Prudence E. Westgate. Any more info from anybody would be appreciated !

I am searching for information about Catherine Rymal b. 1807 in Wentworth, Ontario. She married Elijah Smith ca 1826 and had twelve children, all born in Ont. She then moved with her husband to Kent Co., Michigan. Some of the children settled there as well. She died in 1889. I am interested in any information. Thank you.

Dear Pat, It sounds like that is the right connection. I have the genealogy of the Smith line that was in the LDS data base but would be interested in comparing with the information that you have. For one thing, I had never seen the nickname "Lige" used before, so I figure you have some inside information...like perhaps a family Bible ?
I am descended from their daughter Agnes Smith who married William Shackleton. Are you also a descendant ? Sue

I have just come across a marriage record for Milton James RYMAL, (26), b.Chicago, occ. railroad, Nov 17, 1919 to Margaret Ann DUNGEY (25) b.Wallace, spinster. She is daughter of Thomas Dungey & Josephine BENNETT and he is listed as son of Oliver RYMAL and Prudence WESTGATE.

This must be the first marriage you mentioned - that ended in divorce. ??

Another message posted states Oliver is son of Jacob H. RYMAL. Which one, there are quite a few Jacob H. RYMAL's - what proof do you have for this and who was his mother?

I am researching RYMALS from Barton who settled in Leamington for a while and then back to Barton.

Hi! I and my mother just got back from Michigan where we were meeting some family and doing some research. I don't know if we are related or not. My mother's father was Milton Rymal. He was married previous to being married to my grandmother, he had a lot of brothers, the only one I know of as of yet was Lionel. Have you corresponded with Barbara Tuz? She has done a lot of work with the Rymal genealogy.
Nice to meet you. :-)

I just met my first cousins, they all live in MI. and all have
the last name Rymal. My mother was a Rymal, but she
left MI. when she was only 13, shortly after Milton Rymal,
her father, died. Milton Rymal legally adopted my mother
and her brother, but he is held to also be the biological
father of them, but not married to my grandmother at the
time. One of my cousins looks so much like him that it
unnerved my mother when we went to meet them. Do you
know of a Milton Rymal in your family? Milton would have
been born in Chicago in 1893 to Prudence Westgate Rymal
and Oliver Rymal. Milton was married previously to Anna
M. Rymal, and was divorced from her in 1940. I know they
had at least one child together. Let me know if you think
there might be a connection.
:-)
Syndy

That is very interesting. My mother recalls going to visit somepeople in Detroit. She believes, although is not positive, that they were Milton's mother and sister. This would have been in the late from about 1938 - 1947. It is also interesting that one of Milton's obituaries states that his mother, Neva Rymal, is still living in Detroit. Milton's mother's name was Prudence Westage Rymal, and I believe that she lived in Ontario Canada, not Detroit. Still, there was someone that lived there that my mom's family used to go visit.

Cool! Thanks for checking with your family.
You might want to mention the name Lionel, that was the name of one of his brothers, although I have no idea what became of him or where he came from. I have an old picture
of Milton standing next to a woman that looks so much like
him there is little doubt that she is a Rymal, perhaps a sister,
or a young looking mother?? Milton's father was Oliver, and his father was Jacob H. Rymal, just in case it helps make a connection. Anyhow, I appreciate your checking. Have a great time at your family gathering.
Syndy

I am interested in finding out anything about any of the sons or daughters of Oliver Rymal and Prudence Westgate Rymal. My line comes through their son Milton Rymal b. 1983 in Chigaco, IL. sometime of Palmerston Ontario, lived in MI. in the 1940s.

I am also interested in any Rymals who lived in Detroit in the 1930s and 40s. I know Milton had family there, but I don't know the connections.

Does the name Betty Drumm (married name, neice of Milton) ring any bells with any of you Rymal researchers.

Do you know of a Bernie or Raymond Rymal. They also lived in Michigan. Raymond was my grandfather and had 7 children. He died in 1972. My ancestry seems to back from Bernie all the way to Hans George Rymal in 1648 in Wertemberg Germany. Maybe we are related???

I am going to find out how many, if any, brothers my grandfather, Raymond had. He died in 1972 in Detroit, MI.
His father, Berney was born in Connecticut and died in Brighton, MI.

I know they had brothers that lived in PA as well. On Sat, June 8th, I am going to a family gathering. I will ask my aunts and uncle Bob if they know of a Milton.

RYMAL

Fathers full name is Paul John William Rymal. Thought maybe these names may have been passed on down the line in particular the "John and William".Grandfather Glen Rymal, moved to Canada from Germany after WW2. Have very little information on Rymal family as I have lost complete contact since a young child. Any help would be most helpful as I am now attempting to compile info for a family tree for my daughters. The spelling may have been changed after the war re. Rymal. Thank you in advance for any help and assistance any one can offer.
