Harold W. Safarik, 68, of 76 Grand St., Springfield (Massachusetts), retired machine operator for Monsanto Chemical Co., died Saturday in Baystate Medical Center, Wesson Unit. A lifelong resident, he was a member of the Monsanto 25-year club, American Association of Retired Persons, and the local A.A.R.P. No. 106. He was a former employee of both Westinghouse Corp. and the Springfield Armory. He leaves his wife, the former Elizabeth "Betty" Norman; three sons, William of Westfield, employee at Springfield Union, Harold, at home, Robert of San Diego; a daughter, Judith Noble; two brothers, Edward of West Springfield, Rudolph of Holyoke; a sister, Evelyn Belanger of Springfield; and a grandson. The funeral will be Wednesday morning at George B. Tazzini & Son Funeral Home and in Holy Name Church with burial in Hillcrest Park Cemetery.
