William A. Sagen-November 2, 2001
MONTESANO-Three-year Montesano resident William Allen Sagen, 54, died of a genetic liver disorder Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Montesano.
He was born August 24, 1947, to Abel Morris "Bob" and Dolores (Hamner) Sagen at spokane. He was raised in Raymond and graduated in 1965 from Raymond High School.
Mr. Sagen graduated with a degree in education from Central Washington University at Ellensburg in 1969.
He married Carol Roberts in 1982 at Colville. She survives in Montesano.
He had also been married to Christine Clapson.
Mr. Sagen was a teacher for several years: Eight in Montesano, eight in Othello, three at Hunters School District and seven and a half at Baldwin Park School District in California. He retired in 1997. He also coached football and wrestling for 17 years.
He was a member of the church of Jesus Chrust of Latter-day Saints, where he worked with youth. He served as a merit badge counselor for the Boy Scouts and worked with other programs in the church.
He enjoyed reading, geology and growing roses.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Sagen is survived by his father; eight sons, Michael Rough of St. George, Utah, John of Kent, Steve and Daniel Rough, both of Riverside, Calif., and Aaron Rough of Vacaville, Calif., James and Jeffrey, both of Spokane and Joshua of Montesano; a daughter, Jenny Larsen of Redlands, Calif.; four brothers, Robert of Raymond, Paul of Port Angeles, Mark of Montesano and Russ of Lynwood; and 13 grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Whiteside Family Mortuary in Montesano.
A funeral is set for 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, Elma Ward. A burial will follow at the Wynoochee Cemetery.
