Rockingham-Harrisonburg Research

In January 2001, I commissioned the Harrisonburg-Rockingham
Historical Society to perform a search for the siblings
or parents of Abraham V. Sager, b. Dayton, VA 12-29-1848
(which is Rockingham Co.)
The father would be Abraham Sager, MD.

This research included:
1. Garbers Cemetary
2. Page from Rockingham Recorder
3. Rockingham Guardian bonds (Christian)
4. Shenandoah Co. Obits
5. Shenandoah Co. Marriages

Their address is P.O. Box 716
Dayton, VA 22821
researched by: Madeline H. Hilbert

The letter stated that this was all the information that could be
found at the Library on Abraham. Apparently, all the research was done
at that one location. I was sent photo copies of pages.

I share this information, but state that there is no positive link
to the Abraham I'm looking for.

I have condensed the information to only Sagers.
Starting with the shortest, and most significant:

Garbers Cemetary, Harrisonburg, VA
Sager, Dr. Abraham 6 Feb 1812 - 22 May 1883
Samuel d 28 June 1883 - 67y
Eliza Jane d 23 Jan 1877 - 49y 1m 29d w. Abraham

Eliza Jane was most likely Eliza Jane Melhorn, who's birth and
death dates match those found on Familysearch.com
Samuel will be examined in a moment.

Guardian Bonds - Rockingham County 1778 - 1817
date: Parent: orphan: Guardian: bond: bondsman:
1815 Sept 19 Sager, Christian Samuel Frederick Young 2,000 Henry Wenger
1815 Sept 19 Sager, Christian Abraham John Long 2,000 Isaac Long
(more listed).....
1816 Apr 17 Sager, Christian Christian Joseph Miller 400 Daniel Garber

** COMMENT **
Samuel (buried with Abraham) was 'apparently' too old to be Abrahams son.
Looking at the Guardians list, they were probably brothers.
There are several Abrahams listed on familysearch et al, but most
were born after 1815 (and ignoring those born approx 1790).
I believe it can be deduced that young Christian is a brother to
Abraham and Samuel, and that, because Christian was listed as
parent many months later, that most likely the mother died.
