Much appreciated. Thank you, Maresli, for taking the time to respond. There's a possibility of an orphanage connection, but also one of his father having a farm in Ontario. I'll keep searching, but hold on to this as a clue.

Thanks again!

I don't know if the following is of any help to you, but in 2000 I contacted Tatyana Saiko by email. I had found her name and email address on the internet. I have pasted below, what she wrote back to me. I am afraid, that is all I can say about the Ukraine Saikos at the moment, but if I come across anything else, I will let you know.
Kind regards,
Maresli.

Dear Maresli
I am afraid I cannot be of much help in this research because this surname is my ex-husband's. Furthermore, his father was from an orphanage and was given this surname rather than acquired it from parents. He did not know any parents - they might have perished in Stalin's camp.
Sorry to have disappointed you!
Tatyana Saiko

Saiko immigrants from Ukraine to Ontario, Canada?

Hello,

I'm attempting to piece together my mother's genealogy based on her adoption records, but so far all I have on her paternal side is her father's name -- Peter Saiko. He was born around 1924 in Ontario, Canada, a farm hand whose father came from Ukraine. Does this match information in anyone else's records? If so, I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks!
Jess

My great grand parents came to the US from Slavakia around 1910. I have seen their last name as Sojka, Sajko, and Soyko.

Perhaps this may help.

Dear Maresli:
My name is Alex Sayko, and we came from Austria, Innsbruck (Tyrol).
As I know from other people who knew my parents and grandfather (Johan) he change for some reason some letters from his original documents when he came to South América near 1922.
I`m actually living in Argentina and if you know more of some Austrian contacts., please let me know.
It`s very hard to follow the intrincated way that my GrandFather runs before WW1, as I hardly knew he was a Pilot during the war, and... well we can follow this interchange in private, my e-mail address is alexsayko@digitalmap.com.ar please write me a response.
I`m 43 years old engineer, married, two children.
Thank you anyway.

Alex.-

Andreas Saiko, Johann Saiko, Ferdinand Saiko
I believe they were brothers. They emigrated from Bohemia and settled in Minnesota.

... Saiko left from Toblach in North Italy / South Tyrol (Austria) and settled somewhere in the US.

Saikos from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus travelled after 1900 and settled all over, and in Michigan.

More information to follow when I have it!

Please let me know if you can add to this, Thanks.
Maresli.
