Burdet Sailors of Nebraska?

My Mom's father was Burdet (spelling?) Sailors from Nebraska. I believe I remember my Mom referring to someone in a photo as "Grandma Sue". I am not sure if this was his mother, but I think so. I have no information on my Mom's father's side other than they were from Nebraska. I know my Big Poppa (Burdet)had several brothers and sisters, but I don't know any of their names. There was also a relative in that line (I think my Mom's Great Great Grandparents) that died in a house fire trying to rescue all his children. He successfully got 3 kids out, but on his way back into the house for the 4th child, he and the child died. His wife died of a snake bite. I have a VERY old fashioned looking oval photo of them. If any of this sounds familiar please let me know as I know nothing of my Mom's side of the family! My email is thesennfamily@yahoo.com Thanks!

You likely have this information, but Michael Saylors and Luanna Mason (our geneology book spelling) has a daughter named Rachel Saylors who married Eli Young (1/19/1782 his birthday). My grandmother was a Young. I'm tracing back my geneology and so far the farthest back I can get is Michael Saylors and Luanna Mason.

Hope this helps.

Re: Michael Saylors

There is a Michael Salers/Sailors on the White co., TN tax list for the years 1813/1817/1818. Before this he lived in Blount co., TN, and was living in Jackson co. TN on the 1820 census, age 45+ (b. abt. 1758 in PA). He lived to be at least 100, as he is listed on the 1850 census and noted as a Rev. war pensioner, age 100.

I think I've correctly identified his pension application (Sailers) which confirms this information, but it is very difficult to read. It says he was born in PA, enlisted from Burke Co., NC, then moved to GA after the war, then in TN as before stated (also in Missouri, but details were illegible).

I believe he may have been from Wilkes co., GA, as that is where my Phillips family lived. I'm trying to determine if he had a daughter named Elizabeth, b. bet. 1790-1797 in GA, who would have married into my Phillips family.

A Jackson co., TN book says he had a dtr. named Rachel, and his wife was named Louanna Mason. Possible sons living in White co., TN were Frederick & Leonard.

Can you tell me if this is the Michael you are referring to, or if you know anything about this Michael and his children?

Thank you!
Amy.

1790-1850 South Carolina census--Sailors/Saylors

Below are census records for Sailors/Saylors families in South Carolina 1790-1850. NOTES by me are not part of the actual census record and are subject to error. Additions and corrections are welcome!
Several Sailors/Saylors families moved to Georgia; see my separate posting (#261) for Georgia census records.

1850 Anderson Co SC
p.
Sailors, Abram 52 SC
, Mary 49 NC
, Malilda/Matilda? 24 SC
, John B A 23 SC
, Ruth A 19 SC
, Mary A J 18 SC
, Rachael S 16 SC
, Ama (f) 14 SC
, Sarah E C 12 SC
, Abram D 10 SC
, Cintha Ann 7 SC
, Margaret P 4 SC
NOTE: Abraham Sailors Jr (b.abt.1798SC-d.1870-1880Madison Co GA), very probably a son of Abraham Sailors SR & Elizabeth Love. See 1860-1880 Madison Co GA census.

p.
Sailors, John 55 SC
, Cintha 45 SC
, William P 23 SC
, Sarah Anne 19 SC
, Martha Jane 14 SC
, Isaac 13 SC
, Susan C 10 SC
NOTE: very probably a son of Abraham Sailors SR & Elizabeth Love; remained in Anderson Co SC

p.
Sailors, John N? 26 SC
, Elizabeth 34 SC
NOTE: son of John Sailors (b.1795) & Cintha (b.1807); he married 1846 Anderson Co SC to Elizabeth May

p.
Sailors, John B 30 SC
, Sarah 29 SC
, Nancy Ann 9 SC
, Sarah Jane 6 SC
, Mary E 4 SC
, William 2 SC
, James C 3/12
NOTE: son of Leonard Sailors (1786-1856) & Sarah Johnson (1794-1881)

p.253
Sailors, Leonard 64 NC
, Sarah 56 SC
, Sarah Jane 19 SC
, Washington 18 SC
, William J 15 SC
NOTE: very probably a son of Abraham Sailors SR & Elizabeth Love.
I have seen numerous sources that say he was a son of Leonard Sailors who died in1811 Pendleton Co SC. I disagree. I think that Leonard Sailors (1778-living 1850 White Co TN) who married Amy Gant was the son of “Old” Leonard Sailors (d.1811). The 1810 SC census shows that there WERE three Leonard Sailors (see below).

1850 Lexington Co SC
Sailor, Vastine (m) 45 SC
, Ellen 22 SC
, Polly 2 SC
, William M 6/12 SC
******************************************************************************************************************************************************

1840 Anderson Co SC

p.161
Saylor, Nimrod 1m5-10 1m20-30 2f<5 1f5-10 1f30-40
NOTE: son of Leonard Sailors (1786-1856) & Sarah Johnson.

Wonder if Lot Sailors met Willard Ten Eyck in Indiana before they seem to have moved to Barada, Richardson Co.Nebraska? Just want to sort out Sailors' relationships with Ten Eycks. Willard was born in IL but his siblings were born in Wayne Co.IN. They included my ggrandfather, Thomas D. Ten Eyck who married Mary Jane Lines Sailors. Mary was John Thomas Sailors' second wife and widow. John's first wife was Mary's sister, Charlotte Caroline Lines who died after birth of fifth child. After J.T.Sailors died, Thomas D.and Mary Jane married and settled in Nebraska. 3-12-1888, Lot Sailors signed an affadavit saying he knew Willard Ten Eyck, one of Thomas' younger brothers. Was Lot related to John Thomas Sailors? To Benjamin Sailors? Did Lot fight in the Civil War in Co.D 11th IN Volunteers with Thomas and Willard? Please and thanks! Garl unusual name. Not Carl, right?

Elnathan Saylors married a Mary Ten Eick of OH.
Lot Sailors knew Thomas D.Ten Eyck of Barada,
Richardson Co., NE. Thomas T.E.had married the widow of John Thomas Sailors of IN, Mary Jane Lines.
Wade Ten Eyck b.1881 was my grandfather. In an early 20th century census, Wade appeared in home of Charles and Zora Ellen Sailors Slagle. Zora E.was Wade's 1/2 sister because their mother was Mary Jane.
