Burdet Sailors of Nebraska?

My Mom's father was Burdet (spelling?) Sailors from Nebraska. I believe I remember my Mom referring to someone in a photo as "Grandma Sue". I am not sure if this was his mother, but I think so. I have no information on my Mom's father's side other than they were from Nebraska. I know my Big Poppa (Burdet)had several brothers and sisters, but I don't know any of their names. There was also a relative in that line (I think my Mom's Great Great Grandparents) that died in a house fire trying to rescue all his children. He successfully got 3 kids out, but on his way back into the house for the 4th child, he and the child died. His wife died of a snake bite. I have a VERY old fashioned looking oval photo of them. If any of this sounds familiar please let me know as I know nothing of my Mom's side of the family! My email is thesennfamily@yahoo.com Thanks!

You likely have this information, but Michael Saylors and Luanna Mason (our geneology book spelling) has a daughter named Rachel Saylors who married Eli Young (1/19/1782 his birthday). My grandmother was a Young. I'm tracing back my geneology and so far the farthest back I can get is Michael Saylors and Luanna Mason.

Looking for more detailed information on Mary "Polly" Sailer's family. She is the daughter of Conrad Sailors born 1776 in Lincoln County, NC and died in 1796 in Franklin County, IN Her mother was Katherine Hackleman who was born 8-8-1778 in Lincoln County, NC. Conrad's parent were John Sailors (1754) and Fanny Osborn (1754), and Katherines's parents were Jacob Hackleman (1756) and Mary Osborn (1756.)

I've been to Palisades, Ne. John Sailors born in 1756 and died 1833 in Indiana, buried in family cemetery on the Hackleman family farm, now the Applegate Farm.

There is a Michael Salers/Sailors on the White co., TN tax list for the years 1813/1817/1818. Before this he lived in Blount co., TN, and was living in Jackson co. TN on the 1820 census, age 45+ (b. abt. 1758 in PA). He lived to be at least 100, as he is listed on the 1850 census and noted as a Rev. war pensioner, age 100.

I think I've correctly identified his pension application (Sailers) which confirms this information, but it is very difficult to read. It says he was born in PA, enlisted from Burke Co., NC, then moved to GA after the war, then in TN as before stated (also in Missouri, but details were illegible).

I believe he may have been from Wilkes co., GA, as that is where my Phillips family lived. I'm trying to determine if he had a daughter named Elizabeth, b. bet. 1790-1797 in GA, who would have married into my Phillips family.

A Jackson co., TN book says he had a dtr. named Rachel, and his wife was named Louanna Mason. Possible sons living in White co., TN were Frederick & Leonard.

Can you tell me if this is the Michael you are referring to, or if you know anything about this Michael and his children?

I have seen numerous sources that say he was a son of Leonard Sailors who died in1811 Pendleton Co SC. I disagree. I think that Leonard Sailors (1778-living 1850 White Co TN) who married Amy Gant was the son of “Old” Leonard Sailors (d.1811). The 1810 SC census shows that there WERE three Leonard Sailors (see below).

SERVICES HELD FOR RUFUS W. SAILORS
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Dogwood Church near East Prairie for Rufus W. ( Tobe ) Sailors, 38 years old, who died in San Francisco, Cal., January 28. Rev O.C. Lewis had charge of rites with interment in the Dogwood cemetery with Taylor service.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ruby Sailors, and a son; also surviving are four brothers, Mac Sailors of Sikeston, V.W. Sailors or East Prairie, Duff and Joe Sailors of San Francisco; six sisters, Bessie Vaughn, Ercie Jeffrey, and Margaret Niswonger, all of San Francisco, Ruth Gray of Barlow, Ky., Virginia Brown of Wyatt, and Faye dean Middelton of Mitchell, ILL.

Anyway, I have about the same things as you have except didn't have John Richard SAILORS b.abt.1882 parents as John H. only a John SAYLOR/SAILORS.
I had branched way out because I was trying to find info on
John Richard SAILORS and Fannie BLACK's son named Rufus William "Tobe" SAILORS b.1910 who married Ruby Magdalene HIGGS from New Madrid Co,MO.
Ruby HIGGS parents are Walter Albert HIGGS and Luberine Lavernie "Bernie" V. PUGH who were in New Madrid Co,MO.
I was trying to find out all the children of John R. SAILORS.

RITES TO BE HELD FOR JOHN RICHARD SAILORS
Funeral services will be conducted at the Dogwood church near East Prairie at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon for John Richard Sailors, who died of dropsy last Monday at the home of a daughter at Chaffee soon after his arrival from California, where he had resided since last August. Rev. Ray Tallent will have charge of the rites. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Taylor service.
Mr. Sailors was born at East Prairie November 28, 1882. He spent most of his life there and in the Sikeston community until last summer when he moved to California. He became ill in March and received hospitalization for several weeks. Feeling improved, he decided to return to Missouri and reached Chaffee only a short time before the end.
The survivors include his widow, Mrs. fannie Sailors; five sons, Tobe, Mack and Joe, of Sikeston,
J.D. of san Francisco, Cal., and Verlin Sailors, of Brigham City, Utah, and six daughters, Mrs. Bill
Vaughn, Mrs. Paul Brown, Mrs. Andrew Jeffries and Miss Fadine Sailors, of San Francisco; Mrs.
Ruth Gray of Charleston and Mrs. Chester Niswonger of Chaffee. All will attend the rites.

Viola Sailors, 78, of Crown Point, Ind., formerly of Livingston County, died Dec. 13 at her home. She was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans' Auxiliary.
Surviving are three sons, James Dickerson of Griffith, Ind., Joe Dickerson of Crown Point, Ind., and Randy Dickerson of Lancaster, Calif.; two daughters, Donna McAvene of Covington, and Janie Clarke of Glouester, Va.; two stepsons, Dave Sailors of Dallas and Bobby Dickerson of Marion; a brother, Lyman Mitchell of Cleveland, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, V. W. Sailors.
Funeral services were held Dec. 16 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. John East officiating. Burial was in Lola Cemetery.

Rufus W. "Tobe" SAILORS was married to Ruby HIGGS.
I'm connected to Ruby HIGGS mother's line her parents are
Walter Albert HIGGS and Luberine "Bernie" V. PUGH both parents are buried at Matthews Cemetery, Matthews, New Madrid County, Missouri.

So nice to get your message! I descend from John and Fanny Sailors son Jacob (1777-1836). Jacob died in Rush Co, IN same as his father John, but his family also ended up in Wabash Co, IN. Would love to hear from you and compare notes!

I'd say it is a good probability that we are related but I don't know the name. Sorry! Linda was a popular name for people my age! My Daddy liked the song..When I go to sleep I never count sheep, I count all the charms about Linda! Mom wanted to call me Cynthia and if I had been a boy...God forbit...I would have been Otis!

don't remember a Joey Sailors right off hand. there were literally thousands of Sailors....all related. years ago there was a rev. ten eyck who was at the dutch reformed church on the reservation back home. Would love to hear what you know about Lot Sailors. His sons were bad news for the most part. Linda Fabry. I also corresonded with a Linda Sailors from CA.

My GGreat-Grandmother was Delaney Sailors daughter of Abner Sailors and Levenia Wilson. Delaney married Ezekial Hillard
Ingram b. 1836 d. 1913. They were married Nov. 21, 1858
in Jackson Co., Ga. There children are:

John Wesley Ingram b. Nov. 15, 1861; d. Dec. 13, 1927
