Anyone know any stories that follow the sain family line? Like whom the first sains were and when they entered America. I don't know much of my family lineage all I know is that Sain is German so if anyone knows anything please let me know.

Jennifer, you and I must be related fairly closely, as I just responded to your post regarding Freddye Shearin Sain as well. All I know is that Zachary Sain was my great-great-grandfather (my great-grandfather being Robert Lee Sain, my grandfather being Fred Ewell Sain, and my mother being Jeanene Sain Lawhead), and that my first cousin is named for him. I would be interested in seeing the tree you have constructed if there were ever the opportunity!

from Hettie Lnu (possible Sarah H. Dellinger who married John F. Sain?) to Cephus Crooks Dellinger with Hettie telling Cephus that he can come back home to NC and find a new wife. Cephus's 1st wife, Fannie Hallman died in 1901 leaving Cephus a widower with nearly grown children living at home.

Harry Marvin Sain passed away on Jan 13 2009. He is survived by his wife Phyllis Heigley Sain, his daughter and son in law Elizabeth and Thomas Lamb, his brother and sister in law Ken and Marilyn Sain and 6 neices and nephews.
Harry was born in Monrovia, Ca. on April 11 1928. He served in the 24th Infantry Division, US Army of Occupation in Japan at the end of the WW2 and was a radio operator. After military service he attended Pasadena City College, received his bachelor's degree from UC Santa Barbara with a major in industrial education and is Master of Arts in Secondary Teaching from Cal State LA.
Harry taught graphic arts for 33 years in El Monte City School District. In 1965 he was selected as the LA county Industrial Educator of the year. After retirement, he continued to work for the school district as a printer for another 20 years.
Harry was an exceptionally fine woodworker and won many blue ribbons at the LA county fair. He was an amatuer radio operator holding the call sign W6CSH for over 60 years. An avid airplane enthusiast he built both models and wooden replicas. While he was teaching he held classes during recess and lunch time for student to learn to build and fly model airplanes. He was an excellent photographer an avid fisherman. Harry loved the lakes of the Eastern Sierras and he and his fmaily spent all of their summers in the cabin he built in 1962.
Services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 311 South Citrus Ave in West Covina on Saturday Jan 17th at 9:30am. If friends wish to make donations in lieu of flowers they may be made to the Endowment Fund of Christ Lutheran Church 311 South Citrus,West Covina, Calif 91790 or Citrus Valley Hospice at 820 N. I am looking for verification of the existance of a Casper Sain family Bible. Some where I read its suppose to exist and is @ Mocksville Library. Can anyone substantiate this?
I have been searching for the actual birth parents for Hetta Sain who married Edmun(d) Taylor in October 1816 in Rowan County, NC. They had their children there and sometime in the 1830's moved to Gibson County, TN. When Edmun(d) died aprox. 1857 Hetta moved with all her son's and their families to Sebastian County, AR.
I've come across many theories on who Hetta parents were but nothing with documented proof.
Any help will be appreciated.

Kemp Sain was the son of Thomas Polk Sain & Virginia (Jennie) Davis Sain who had 5 children.. 1) Ida Florence 2) Franklin Eugene 3) Oscar George 4) Donnie T. 5) Arthur (KEMP) Sain.. He was the youngest of the bunch, and died when he fell onto the saw while cutting a log. He's my grandfather's uncle who always told me it cut him in half.. and I think he's burried in Lincoln co.

I was raised in Shiner Lavaca county TX; the old homestead of mine is abt 5 miles out of Shiner FM966 You are kin to the Walter & elie Brunkenhaufer ... the Gerloff Brunenhaufer Wehl Sain are all buried in the Shiner city cemetery The funeral home there should be able to tell you where all of these relatives are located ...it's like putting a puzzle to gether ..

Yes I am indeed a Sain and Johnnie is my Dad. My full name is Johnnie Darlene Sain. I am his first-borne. He was married to my mom Von Ceil in the late 50's. She was 16 when I was born and is now 62. I just turned 47. I live here in Amarillo as well. I have wanted info on my dad and my other relatives all my life. My Mom has told me very little. I know about my Grandmother Pauline but had no idea she was still alive. My mom lives in Okla city. I have 4 half sisters and brothers but we all have different dads.I talked to a Sain in Amarillo back about 7 years ago but don't remember the name was it you? I am very interested in hearing more. My husband is a descendant of William F. Sain b. abt 1858 NC who married Mary Jane Romiene (sp?) Their son Monroe L. Sain married Henrietta Clark. They had Walter Franklin, Jesse, Gertrude, Doyle, Bertha, Viola, and Lloyd. Walter Franklin Sain was the father of Wade Monroe Sain who is my father-in-law.
Now how does this line fit in with the Zirn's from Germany? Can you help?

This info came from my Mom and Dad, Norman Burrell Saine. Charlie Casper Saine's Father was Charlie Saine. Charlie Saine was my Father's Uncle. My grandfather and my father's father was James T. Saine. James and Charlie were brothers. Charlie married Lula Roberts. Their children were: Alvene, Emmanual/Manual, Irene, M.R., Leroy, Charlie, Jackie (died in a car accident at an early age), Herbert, Nick, O.B., Beatrice and Polly. We use to visit with Alvene and Beatrice quiet a bit and in fact, they lived outside Lafayette, GA. My dad's Uncle Charlie is buried in Tullahoma, TN, Coffee County, at Bethany Cemetary which is located on Riley Creek Rd. Charlie and James father was Andrew Jackson Saine (I have a photo of his tombstone, 4th Tenn. Cavalry. Also, my mom said 7 of Charlie and Lula's sons served in WWII at the same time. All came back alive, but Leroy was on a ship that was attacked and blown up, and he was never the same. Hope this helps, Juanita Saine Haymond

You say all of the Sain's come from Casper, but I do not believe this is true since Jacob Sain came from Germany and settled in Lincoln County, NC. He was born in 1737. He wrote his will in 1829 (Lincoln County, NC). He is said to have had a brother, we think might be Casper, but we don't know. Jacob has descendants who migrated to Texas and other parts all over the US. Does any of you info show a brother to Casper. Did you find ship records of Casper and did they show any other Zirn's?

I don't think that I can help you a great deal, but I believe that you are on the right track. Jacob Sain's daughter, Matilda's middle initial is M for McFadden. I found this in an abstract of her father's will. Based on her age at the 1850 census, Jacob's Matilda would have been about 39 or 40 in 1/1869, the time of the wedding. That's about all that I can do for you at this time Wilda. Sorry that I can't help more,

Oh, West Rushville is in Fairfield Co., but literally, a stones throw from Perry Co.

Hi Dianne, just today (7/4/08) I was reading the passenger list of the ship ("The Dragon") that Casper came on and didn't see any other. However,I am not saying you are wrong.Could have come on another ship perhaps? I,m rather new at this.It gets really confusing.I,m way down here in South Tx. and seem to have followed my roots over to NC where there seems to be alot more Sain people over there.*Bet you never heard that one before* Anyhow, good Luck with your search.

I reckon my Dad vaguely would remember his dad since Willie died when he was 2 years old.I just now signed up with "ancestry.com" and finding a world of info.This Summer I will be going to Shiner Tx. to cemetery,then hopefully up to Independence Tx.There's still alot I don't know that interests me.As for us we have lived down here in South Texas all my life.Where are you all from?

James Elmore Sain (my great-grandfather) was the son of Zepharina Sain (daughter of Samuel Austin Sain, one of the "four brothers") before she married Calvin Bragg. I have a very large photo-drawing of Zepharina Sain.

James E. Sain married Hester Ann Brown, daughter of Alexander B. Brown and Frances Susannah Banks.

James E. and Hester had one child, David Harrison Sain, who married Myrtle Cunningham in 1904. They were divorced after their only son, Clyde, died in early childhood

In 1909, David Harrison Sain married Mattie Caroline Myers, daughter of William Elliott "Buck" Myers of Stephenson, TN. David and Mattie had two daughters, Edna Blanche "Boots" born 1911 and Willie Mae "Billie". b. 1919. David and Mattie are buried in Manchester City Cemetery, TN.

I am looking for any members of the Philip & Missouri Sain (1863-1948) Family. They are my great-great-great grandparents. I only know about the lineage of one of their daughters, Hattie B. Sain (1884 - 1962)who Married David Sain. Obviously, she married in the family or from another set of Sain's from the same Hardeman Co. TN area. Other than Hattie, there were 5 other siblings that I would love to know the lineage of: Mollie, Philip Jr., Mattie, Tom and Israel. I think I have found info on Israel Sain. I believe Israel was married to an Essie and in 1920 they only had 3 daughters and Hattie was living with them. Those daugthers are Bessie, Altise, adn Emma (I think.).

If there is anyone out there who knows of this or any other Sain family, let me know.

Sara Sain was born January 22, 1858 in Grundy Co., Tennessee. I think maybe Sallie was a nick name. She was my gr. grand mother. She died March 4, 1934 in Monteagle, Tennessee. She married Samuel Smith. Their son Harvey Roy Smith born Feburary 12, 1876 was my grand father. This is all the Sain information I have. Any information would be greatly appreciated. He sounds like my ggrfather also.He had either 4 or 5 sons that I,m aware of,daughters not sure?Son,s names Tom,Jack,Dick,Bill and Pike (nickname) settle in Muskegon.Sam was my grfather lived in Ewen was gased in WW1 lived unknown years afterwords.He married an Indian from Port Huron belived to have been Blackfoot Tribe?She'd been prevously married to a Hicks?Her maiden name was Diamond,they had 2 sons Harold and Raymond all from Ewen.I have a 2nd cousin doing a genealogy,and she has a beautiful photo of Alva and 3 sons Dick,Bill,and Tom.I'll post it as soon as I can?

I am looking for parents of Paul Edwin Sain whose dates on his gravestone are: 22 May 1914 and 10 Aug 1961. Family oral history says that he was born in Cleveland Co. NC. He married Juanita Boatright in 1939 in Brunswick Co. Georgia while in the navy but had a child in 1940 in Cleveland Co. He died in Mecklenburg Co. NC.
