I have a Peter P. Salesman that married Catharine Bailey.
They are listed in the 1850 census of Jeffersonville Township, Clark Co., IN.

They also had a Daughter Eliza, that married:
James Thompson Logan Herrin, Sr.
Married: October 05, 1869, Richland County, Illinois

Saulsman? and Brooks

William R. Brooks (1861-1937) was living in Steuben County, NY, when he became 'involved' with a Carrie Saulsman. They had two sons:

Rensselaer Delancy Brooks (1884). Died in 1937. His wife was Blanche. They may have had a son named William R. Brooks-III (1914-1922). They may have lived in Montana.

Victor E. Brooks (1893). He died in 1966 in a nursing home in Ashtrabula, Ohio.

At one time, Carrie and her two sons moved to Ohio, supposedly confined to a mental institution for morphine addiction.

I have lots of information to share regarding the Brooks family.

I am looking for any info on George Salesman (or Saleman in some census). He was married to Dessa (Dessie) Sills (b. May 29, 1886 - d. feb 27, 1952. Dessie was my great grandmother's sister. Ophale (Opal) was my grandmother's cousin. If you need any info on this side of the family, I can provide it. Although it has been a while since you posted this message, you may already have the info.

Do you have info on a Peter SALESMAN (b. c1810 KY) who lived in Bullitt Co., KY and then moved to Clark Co., IN and between 1850 to 1860 moved to Richland Co., IL.. Also looking for info on his wife/children/parents?

He was married to Catharine BAILEY (b c1820 Bullitt Co., KY) d/o Joseph BAILEY and Eliza BAUGHN. Joseph and Eliza also came to Richland.

Known children of Peter SALESMAN and Catherine BAILEY:
(1) Joseph (bc 1848 IN?)
(2) Jacob (bc 1849 KY)
(3) Eliza W. (bc 1852 IN)
(4) Phillip (bc 1856 IL)

In the 1870 census, Joseph BAILEY and Eliza are living in Bonpas Township, Richland Co., IL.

My father died in 1971and grandmother died Feb. 19, 1953 Her name was Margaret H.,and I think my grand father was born in 1841. His name was John. I've been told County Kerry and Cork, but I'm not sure. Any help? I was raised in Delaware and I believe my grand father worked at the railroad. My father was a salesman at Shields Lumber Co.

My mother was a Salesman. She died in 1936 in Arkansas, but has two living sisters. My grandfather was Phillip Salesman. He died around 1955 in Texas. We did not know the whereabouts of the Salesman side of family until a few years ago, when they contacted us.

Salesman's

I live in Dugger, Indiana. We have alot of Salesmans living here who go back to Illinois and then to Bullit and Greene Counties in Ky. My great great grandfather died in 1899 outside of Olney. He was buried in a cemetery I believe they call Oak Hill, but I cant remember the little town it was in. He had a brother name Jacob, and one name Phillip. They all came from Ky, but lived in Ill after about 1865 on. Joesph was married to a woman name Martha Camp, and then married a Mary (Jenner) McGath.
I have traced some back to Ky. Peter and a John. I am not sure which is the parents of these boys. I am planning to go to Louisville, and see if I can find some info.
There was some Salesmans in Hazard county about 3-4 years ago, but I was never able to get ahold of them. If you want to get in touch with me, just email. Thanks Darla

I have family members in Crawford Lawrence County Il and Argyle Wisconsin. In my travels I have found 1 Salesman in Mason City IL and the group in southern Indiana. During a visit to Gettysburg I found the family name in Lancaster County Pennsylvania.
