Salmon Family of VA

I am also researching the Salmon, Salmonss and Sammons families. I note more than one as the primary is Elizabeth Salmons that married William Henry 1802 Botetourt Co. VA. Jacob Salmon was Surety. The second Salmons also spelled Sammons was of Sussex Co. VA. This other Elizabeth Sammons married John Whitehorn Jr. Elizabeth the daughter of James Sammons and Annie Seaborne.

I have seen Amagon, Jonesboro and Heber Springs AR listed on this site. The descendants of the Salmons and Sammons above moved to Glaize Township, Jackson Co. AR. in the 1853 - 1856 timeframes. I would love to hear from you and compare our research either online or directly to me at the following e-mail: cca44@aol.com.

Carolyn Anderson

Researching the SALMON family from Essex, UK, in particular the villages of Felsted and Stebbing Dunmow and the towns of Tottenham, Hackney and Stoke Newington in London.

Thomas Salmon was born in 1777 in Felsted and married a lady called Elizabeth who was born in 1779 and died aged 51 years. They went on to have at least 4 children that I'm aware of, starting with Thomas Salmon in 1810.

Would love to hear from anyone who is researching similar, who has Elizabeth in their tree or has any connection.

Lyn

I'm seeking information on Joseph (b abt 1789) & Elizabeth (b abt 1791) Salmon. They emigrated to Australia in October 1834 on the "David Scott" with their children Ann 16, Jemima 15, Joseph 11 and Caroline 10. Also in their family group were Sarah Goodwin 16, George Goodwin 8, Henry Goodwin 2.

They apparently travelled with two other Cambridgeshire families named Ashby and Loomes.

I have found many references to the Salmon family in Cambridgeshire records but nothing about Joseph.

They may have changed the spelling of their spelling to Sammons once they arrived in Sydney.

Salmon Family from Cheshire

Is anyone researching Salmons from Cheshire? I am searching for information about ANN SALMON, born in 1799 probably in Chester, and her father JOHN SALMON. John's occupations included farming and being a wine merchant. He was living in Chester in the 1830s and may have been there all his life. I do not have a firm birth date yet for John. Ann married George Lightfoot in Chester in 1824 and lived on his farm in Littleton, Cheshire. After George Lightfoot died, Ann remarried Hugh Bennett Briscoe in 1841 and lived in Littleton until her death in 1862.

Prior to her death in 2002 my wife and I did extensive research on her SALMON family in CT, NY, MA. She gained membership in the DAR based on the service of her GG Grandfather, Asahel SALMON, second son of Reuben and his first wife, Dorothy FOOTE. Reuben's second wife was Prudence BENNETT. The families of both wives are extensively documented on Ancestry.com. Now I would like to take the SALMON family further back, probably to England or Ireland. Can anyone help?
Well it's a different spelling everytime I find a mention of her name!

Variations on the name Eutica (see below) born Comb, Suffolk in 1822...

Became the wife of Edward Salmon (1819).... First child is born in 1847...

I have found a marriage of a Eutychia Kersey (1845 in Thetford) but can't match it to Ed... I suspect it could be the lady in question....

In the census she appears as:
1891 - Enrica
1881 - Eutica
1871 - Eutrice
1861 - Entica
1851 - Euhia

When she dies she is recorded once again as Eutica....

...Your guess is as good as mine - Answers on a postcard to:

f4rrell@talktalk.net

Any advice grately received

David Farrell
Hi,

I am trying to find out the names of my Grandmothers parents.
My grandmothers name was 'Marie Emily Salmon' and she was born AUG 1923 and she married 'Stephen Cross' in 1947 and passed away in May 1976, she had a brother called 'Alfred Ernest Salmon' who lived in Barking, Essex and he was born 15 Apr 1917 and he passed away in Jul 1996, she also had a sister called ' Ivy I Salmon' and she was born 1911.

All I know so far is that my grandmothers mothers maiden name was 'Jarman' and they were all registered in West Ham, Essex apart from grandmother she was registered in Romford, Essex.

I have looked up marriage records for 'Jarman' and 'Salmon' between 1900 and 1923 to see if I could find out when my grandmothers parents got married but I have had no luck so far!

So if there is anyone out there or with the surname 'Salmon' that may be able to help me with my query I would be grateful.

Thanks!

Eli Salmon/Lydia Van Meter OH-MO (Emily J Salmon m. Heath)

Can anyone tell me more about this family, especially about the childen? Any old photos out there? Living descendants?
William Redmond HEATH (b. 10 July1842-d. 14 July 1910) m. 1862 Emily SALMON (born 4 March1842-d. 16 Oct1915). Emily Salmon was the daughter of Eli Salmon from OH and her mother was Lydia Van Meter from OH. Emily was born in Harrison Co. MO. William R. Heath died first, 5 years before his wife. He died of a cerebral hemorrage. She died of tuberculosis. They were married in Daviess Co. MO. William was a farmer and a minister. William and Emily died in Daviess Co. MO and are both buried in the Heath Cemetery in Benton Twp. William R Heath served in the 23rd Missouri Volunteer Infantry (Union) at the Battle of Shiloh (April 6-7 1862) and was wounded. He was just 19 at the time. He also married Emily Salmon in 1862 so must have come home long enough to get married. His brother James Kemper Heath also served in the 23rd Missouri as an officer and survived the Battle of Shiloh. The 23rd Missouri Volunteer Infantry was reformed and continued to fight until the close of the war. They were assigned to Major General William T. Sherman on his march to the sea. They were not mustered out until July 18, 1865 at Louisville, KY, thus you will note below that the first child was born 1866. The1900 census indicated they had 12 children, only 9 living in 1900.
The 9 (known) children of William R and Emily are:
Eliza J. HEATH (b. ca. 1866) m. 25 Aug 1887 Jno. F. SMITH (?)
Israel HEATH (b.3 Oct1867-d 31 Jan1921) m. Nevada WILLIS(1869-1949). He was a carpenter. He died of tuberculosis. Buried Heath Cem. Daviess Co. Death certificate says he lived in Pattonsburg, MO.
Israel and Nevada Heath had:
Emma L. HEATH b. 24 Mar 1892 d. 24 Dec 1913, never married. Died
of tuberculosis age 21. She had been seriously ill for 4 mos attended
by a doctor.
Rena/Ruey HEATH (b.1870) m. 22 Nov 1888 Howard WHITE
John HEATH (1872-1946) m.ca. 1896 Laura GARDNER (1875-1964).
John and Laura had:
Russell HEATH b. 31 May 1898 d. 31 Oct 1918, farmer. Lived Pattonsburg, MO.
William HEATH (1874-1935) Buried Heath Cem. Daviess Co.
Walter HEATH (b.ca. 1876)
Oliver HEATH (1879-1939) Buried Heath Cem. Daviess Co.
Nellie HEATH (b.1884)
Russell HEATH (1888-1942) m. Bernice ___(1892-1969). Both buried Heath
Cem. Daviess Co.
John & Henry Salomon/Salmon in Berks Co., PA USA c1843

Hello All,
Please check out my webpage at this link for info on the above persons
http://www.schreffler.name/LongswampBook/LongswampWebPage.ht...

Here are more details about the Salmon’s in the book I have:
The book has about 350 contiguous entries, and John first shows up about page 232, which is very late in the season, as the book starts on Feb 9th, 1843. John's name shows up on November 5th 1843, and the last time we see his name in on March 26th, 1844. Henry is one of the last names in the book, and may even be from 1849, an entry for Henry, I can't be sure. It appears that John may have been passing through this area of PA, as this area of Berks County, PA (in USA) is Northwest of Philadelphia, and it is plausible that if John is traveling Westward, he would have possibly stayed the winter in the area of this store, judging from the dates. It’s also a bit strange that he buys a pair of stockings as the first purchase entered in the book, maybe from doing all that walking :?) Looking at the US Federal census’s for 1840 and 1850, there is no John Salomon/Salmon listed in Berks county, and this too adds to the plausibility that John may have been headed westward.

Just my thoughts here, I am not related to any Salmon’s as far as I know, just a fellow genealogist having some fun with an old book!

Enjoy and if you want more info, email me.
Roy Schreffler
Wisconsin Briggs & Salmon photos

I recently was given an old photo album containing photos given to Rebecca (Briggs) (1855-1934) and Cutler (1846-1922) Salmon. Cutler was the son of Peter (1803-1874) and Nancy (Mc Cool) (1813-1890) Salmon. Most were taken prior to 1900 and some are very old tin plates. Of course very few has any names on the back. I am looking for people who may have old photos from these families and can help me identify the people in the photos.

Does anyone have any old photos or have any suggestions to help me identify any of these people?
Calvin Salmon, Dutchess Co., NY

I am looking for any information on Calvin Salmon. His daughter Mary Ann Salmon was born in Rensselaer County, NY in 1814. I would like to find Calvin's parents. He married Sarah Coon/Koon/Kuhn. Sarah was born in Dover, Dutchess Co., NY on 7 July 1793 so I think he might be related to the Salmon's from Dutchess Co. When Calvin died, Elizabeth married her late sisters husband Rhuel Clapp. Any help anyone can give me would be extremely appreciated.
