Salzer, Kassel Germany to Illinois to IA.
Family lore has it that Andrew (Andt?)Salzer fled Germany approx 1889. His brother (name unknown) was perhaps killed also trying to escape the military obligations. Andrew kept much of the family history secret out of fear. It is known that he was born in Kassel 28 Sept 1867.
