wow so we're like long lost cousins LOL
you know more then I do about my own family LOL
My grandfather Arman, Napoleon's son committed suicide when my father was 7 (in 1964 i believe)and the Samson family dissociated themselves from my grandmother, because they blamed her for his death.
My uncle (Armans oldest kid 18 when he died) told me he had a metal plate in his head and it caused him extreme discomfort, which was the true cause plus the death of 2 twins stillborn sent him over the edge.
Im gonna try and find some more info on the remaining Samsons here in the willimantic area and let you know what i can find
thanks for the info we've been trying to find the area in Canada for a while now

The area that my grandmother comes from is the Three Rivers area of Quebec. They were part of the Ojibwa indian tribe. I
think the town name was St. Yamocice P.Q. Canada. Napolean
was my grandmothers brother, her name was Aldea(Samson)Mahue. They lived in Willimantic. But came from Quebec.

Two Stephen's (cousins) are born in Mendon, MA within one year of each other and I'm trying to determine which married Rachel Davis.

Thank you for any help.

Diane

SAMSON family

It is unlikely that the family lines were linked in recent history. I have traced my family line back to my Great Great Grandfather who was born in 1845 and was a 'Stone Dyker'.

The Samson family in Glasgow most likely originated in Ayrshire which was the starting place for the SAMSON family name in Scotland when they emigrated from Ireland sometime shortly after 1300.

I may get some time over the next few months to trace the line back further, but Scottish Parish records on the web start at 1800, so any other research will have to be done manually.

You may wish to try the web site for GRO(Scotland) which has these records. If you know any details about your family in the 1920's such as address, marriage dates etc, then you should manage to trace your family back to the later half of the 19th century with little problem. Without such data however, you may be surprised how many SAMSON's existed !!!

Looking for more info on Simeon Samson

Hi everyone I'm stationed on the soon to be commisioned ship the USS Independence. I have been doing some research into the first ship named Independence commisioned in Kingston Mass and Captained by Simeon Samson. I Know from other article that capt Samson left behind to his son George Washinton Samson all of his Military related Manuscripts. Does anyone in the Samson Family know where they are and could I get copies or transcripts. There is not much known about this ship or its history I would like to help put it in its proper place in the story of our nation I NEED YOUR HELP TO DO SO!!! Also are there any portraits of the man I would love to hang one in the historical archive we will place on the ship. I do know his sword is in the Plymouth Ma Museum. So I hope other article survived as well.

Pilgrim Henry Samson-Abraham Sampson Y-DNA Project

THE PILGRIM HENRY SAMSON KINDRED (PHSK) has launched a Y-Chromosome DNA project. It is seeking descendants of Pilgrim Henry Samson who arrived in 1620 on the ship Mayflower and of Abraham Sampson who is first found in the Plymouth records as living in Duxbury in 1638. Goals are to validate existing lineages and to develop a DNA database, or signature, of Abraham and Henry in order to identify and dispel existing confusion of their many descendants.
For years it had been thought that Henry and Abraham were brothers but later evidence was found to challenge the theory. The examination of the parish records of Campton, Henlow, Cranfield, Stotfold and Arlesey, all closely grouped in eastern Bedfordshire, England, suggested that Henry and Abraham were not brothers but probably cousins. (TAG 56:141) Although the The American Genealogist (TAG) article reveals a high probability of relationship the result remains tentative and one of the Samson Kindred’s main goals is to determine the parentage and relationship between these two men through DNA testing.
For further information you are invited to visit the PHSK Website at www.pilgrimhenrysamsonkindred.org.

I hope someone can be of help ! I am trying to trace the brother & sister of my grandfather William Walker Samson. His brother James Samson(1892) & sister Agnes Black Samson (1890) were both married on the same day 18th January 1924 in Kilmarnock, Ayr, Scotland. James married Christine Macaskill & Agnes married Robert Shepard. My grandfather, his wife & 5 children emigrated to Australia in 1927. James and Christine (known as Chrissie) had a daughter in 1930 by the name of Colina Margaret Samson.
The only information I have is that James Samson & his family emigrated to Kenya. (year unknown) I am hoping that James' daughter Colina is still living and that someone knows her.
As for Agnes Black Samson/Shepherd, we seem to think she did not have any children, though have no records to confirm this. She may have also left Scotland?
I would be grateful if someone is able to help or advise me how to find the relevent records to help with my search?

regards
Joan Morton
I wanted to amend the listing regarding Marie Samson who married Nelson Leblanc. They in fact had 13 children. One of which is my Grandmother. There were 7 boys and 4 girls who survived 2 children died when young. They died before my Grandmother Eva Clarinda Shea (Leblanc) has memory. She was the 13th child to be born. They left ND and moved to Auburn, Maine.

This was thoroughly documented to become a member.

My line is as follows:

Henry Samson
Elizabeth Samson (married Robert Sprout)
Hannah Sprout (married Ephraim Keen)
Wealthea (Wealthea) Keen (married Israel Chase(
Ephraim Chase (married Lydia Hathaway)
Apollos Chase (married Nancy Scott)
Joel Chase (married Joan Connick)
Aaron Heber Chase (married Lucy Elsemor)
William Leslie Chase (married Phronie (Verona)Pouzar
Marie Edna Chase (married Frederick Montrose Green
Ardyse Mae Green (married Henry Alvin Davids)
Roberta Mae Davids (married Lloyd Arthur Christopherson)

I am Roberta.
Are we related? If so, let me know how. I am interested in any relative that I may have. I have so few of them.
I am also a descemdant of William Brewster. But have not followed through on that Mayflower line.

I would love to hear from you.
My e-mail address is: rmchristopherson@nc.rr.com.
Write to me and we can compare information

Roberta

e

Hi, This is a longshot, but I am researching my paternal grandmother born in Maine, but lived in Massachusetts for a while before settling in New Hampshire where she died.

She was born Ona Samson, 16 Jun 1909, married my grandfather, Maynard Colson, widowed then remarried Emile GAGNON. She passed away 22 May 2000. Her parents were Lynn Samson, possibly from Canada and Maude (nee Foster).

Re: David Samson of Pike Co. related to Monroe Co. family?

My name use to be Barb Walls and we exchanged info several years ago. What info do you have on the connection between David ( Pike Co ) and the Monroe Co Sampsons. All my research has always led me back to Bedford Co Pa and that is where the Sampsons from Monroe Co came from but I still can't make that final connection. There was a Samuel Sampson that lived next door to the Brouses in Va in 1787 and he left and went back to Pa. The Brouse girls all married Fenners that lived in Bedford Co Pa. If my memory serves me right I think your first name is Linda and you live here in Ohio.
Barb
You can also email me at bbweds@charter.net.
