Oh my Goodness. It took me 3 years to gather some of what you did in a day. Thank you so much for the rest. And, I didn't know that Cherry and Bryant died in FL. Where was this information located?
Cherry maiden name was Bivens, and I have been looking for her parents. Since the same census page list Jerry, Hamption and Mary Bivens, I assume they were siblings. But that a guess and I can't find out who her parents were. I also heard that she was given to a daughter of the plantation owner, Futch, may be T.J.Futch. However, I've not found evidence of this yet. One of my relative say they saw a Will or other document which I have not been able to find.
I initially contacted you because I was wondering, since Bryant was born in NC and ended up in GA, as were your relatives, I wondered if any of your relatives were the owners of Bryant Sanders/Saunders? If you know of any of there pre-slavery papers?
As the case with both Bryand and Cherry, any information prior to the 1870 census is very had to find for Africa Americans, and I know that I will have to go past the census to family Bibles, documents and other filed papers.
I can't thank you enough, neither can I resist asking that should you get in another research frame of mind ☺, I need help locating Cherry's parents and children, if not, I truly understand. You've found so much already and I do appreciate it.
