Hello to all.
I am searching for the parents of William Sanders/Saunders.
He was born in England circa 1824-1826.
Died In Ontario Canada June 1900 at the age of 75.
According to the registration of death he was born in Devonshire.
Cause of death is listed as "Lost in swamp".
Reporting person was Mrs. E. Saunders June 18 1900.
He emigrated to Canada. When? I don't know.
I have him in the 1861 census of Reach Ontario Canada.
He was married to an Elizabeth Wright/Knight.
The reason for the dual surname is that in the registrations of marriage of a son [William] and a daughter [Mary Elizabeth] She is listed as Wright and Knight.
The census of 1901 has her as being born in England,
Nov 11 1834.
Died Ontario Canada Nov. 20 1905 aged 71.
Cause of death pneumonia.
Reporting person was Isaac Saunders.
In the census for 1901 it states that she came to Canada
I don't know if they were wed here in Canada or
in England before they came over.
I have a feeling that William was the son of James/John and Mary Sanders but I am not sure.
In the census' for Ontario Canada William is listed as a Waggon Maker and later as a farmer.
James also in the same small area of Reach or Utica Ontario as a Wheelright.
Others also with the name Sanders in the same area with related professions;
David - Wagon maker
Joseph - Wheelright
The surname Sanders and Saunders has been used for the same person a lot. [Still happens to me today haha].
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
