ELIZABETHTOWN — Michael Sapatek, of the Horace Nye Home in Elizabethtown, died on Aug. 7, 2001.
He was the husband of Margaret Bentley Sapatek, who died on May 29, 2001.
Michael was born in Cohoes, N.Y., and was the son of the late Frank and Louise Sapatek.
He is survived by his sister, Rose of Menands, N.Y.; and nephew Stanley Bessmer of Florida.
His brothers John and Joseph; and sisters, Helen Bessmer and Cecelia Wilson predeceased him.
Michael was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He and his wife, Marge moved to Willsboro in September of 1967. They bought and managed the Sportsmen’s Dinette until the early 1980's.
Funeral services will be private and interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Waterford, N.Y., at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Horace Nye Home
Huestis Funeral Home in Willsboro is in charge of arrangements.
