In the Bedford County, VA, January Court in 1756, a Daniel Saunders sued John Phelps, recorded Bedford County, VA, Order Book No. 1, page 88. This was two years after Bedford was formed in 1754 from Lunenburg County.
For Daniel to have sued in his own right and not through a guardian, he would have had to have been at least 21 years of age in 1754, making him born no later than 1733.
This Daniel,if born in 1733,would have been at least 67 years of age in 1800 and probably some years older. The
U. S. 1810 census for Bedford County, VA, lists only one Daniel Saunders, who was in the age group 26 thru 44 years.
The 1800 census for VA has been destroyed.)
The oldest Saunders male in the 1810 census for Bedford County was a David Saunders who was in the age group 45 and Over (the highest age group in that census). The 1830 census shows a David Saunders who was in the age group 70 to 80 years, thus born between 1750-1760 in Virginia.
Does anyone have any data on this David in 1754,please?
