I am looking for information on the sons of William N Saunders/Sanders who was born in NC in 1787 and is listed in the Anson County NC censuses of 1830, 1840 & 1850. Per the 1850 census, his wife’s name was “Saby” (Sally?). He raised an Anson county family of 3 sons and a daughter. The 3 sons were born between 1815 & 1820 while the daughter was born about 1825. There is a lovely forum of Sanders research for many Anson County Sanders, (Moses, William Aaron, Jacob, Isaac, Benjamin…), but so far, these give no insight into Anson County’s William N Saunders/Sanders or his family members. Has anyone else found William N Saunders? Our known ancestor, presumably the son of this Anson County William N Saunders is also named William N Saunders/Sanders and was born in NC abt 1820. This younger William N Saunders/Sanders left NC by 1843 for Leon County, FL where he married Susannah J Davis in 1850. This marriage appears to have been the younger William N’s 3rd marriage in quick succession (1st to a Margaret R Switzer, 1 Jan 1844; 2ndly to Georgia Amanda Dairs 15 May 1847 and lastly to Susannah J Davis, daughter of Elizabeth Davis, maiden name unknown & husband’s given name unknown, 27 Feb 1850). In Leon County, FL, William N and Susan J (Davis) Saunders had 3 children: Daughters Georgia E abt 1852 and Mary J Grace “Gracey” abt 1855 and son William Samuel Davis Saunders, 18 Feb 1858. The family moved to Grimes County, Texas by 1860 where 3 more sons (JL, 1862; Rosco Lee6 Aug 1863 and Cecil J Jun 1869) and a daughter (M Beulah Sep 1868) were born. Any links for this family group would be most appreciated!
