Saure

I don't know if this is a connection for some or not but I just thought I'd pass it on. Doing family research I've found Saure to be a substitute name for Sauve. In ten years of research I've found 35 or more English versions in North America and a dozen in French I can confirm.
If you're stumped you may want to check out
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~sauve/.
I just found a Francois Sauve that had the Saure name as a spelling in his lifetime.

Carol,
We might be related since my relatives live in Mt. Eaton, Apple Creek, Loudonville, Sugarcreek, and Berlin. I met some of my aunts and uncles that live in Apple Creek and Loudonville back when I was about 11 or 12 years of age. I live in Cleveland now. My great-grandmother was Blanche Saurer (Baldner) and then my great-grandfather was Bill (Otto) Saurer. I will need to dig up my family history packed somewhere and give you more details to my relatives from the early 1900s.

sincerely,
David Saurer

The only Saurer's that I have found to be in my family are from Butler Co. Ohio. They are in Hamilton, Ohio (Butler Co.) in the 1880 census and are as follows: Mathias age 53 born in Baden Germany and his wife Caroline age 40 born in Wittenburg, Germany. Children are: William, age 20, John age 18, Sophia age 17, Mathias age 13, Henry age 9 and Louis age 5. All born in Ohio. I tend to think that all the Saurer's are some how related. If any of ths information sounds familiar or if you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks, Mary Jo

Sounds like we have a connection. My husband's grandmother was Maurgerite Saurer. Her father was William F., mother Matilda Keller. I found a baby book with a family tree that lists Matilda's parents as Frederick Keller and Anna Emmert. Matthias Saurer is William's father. Listed in the 1880 census. Email me at amycwilson@insightbb.com. I'm just changing my ancestry email.

Am trying to locate a family bible belonging to my Grandfather. I believe it was in the possession of the Teder family in Jasper, Indiana. It may have been sold at auction upon the death of the Teder family or possibly donated to the church in the area.
My aunt who was a Teder before she married my Uncle took the bible to her family who still spoke and read german. I am very much interested in finding it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Jim Saurer, grandson.
