Found this at the town's site.

Nice little extra story for someone's line.
Found at:
http://www.neguac.com/history_en.html

Situated between two regions, the Miramichi Bay and the Acadian Peninsula, the village of Neguac was founded by several Acadian families at the end of the 1750’s. For over 250 years, Neguac has been linked with the English community of Miramichi, partly because the village was part of the Miramichi electoral district. But Neguac has always been tied to Acadia, born on the peninsula after the difficult years following the exportation of 1755.

1988 marked the year when Neguac was officially proclaimed the "Capital of the Savoie’s of New Brunswick." The first Savoie’s arrived in the area around 1757. The family of Jean Savoie and his wife Anne Landry established themselves and became the first pioneer family of Neguac after being forced to leave Miramichi during the winter of 1756-57. The majority of Savoie’s of New Brunswick are descended from the first Savoie’s of Neguac.

The village is situated along a coast that had many attractions for the Acadian families of the 18th century. Because of the quality of the soil and the harsh climatic conditions, the population focused on the fishery and forestry operations as means of survival.

The most famous northern New Brunswick Acadian of the time, merchant and justice of the peace Otho Robichaud (1752-1824) was also from Neguac. A provincial historic site was designated in Neguac to commemorate the man and his family.

Joseph Savoy

Looking for further information on Joseph Savoie born 10 April 1873 to Joseph Savoie and Mathilde Pelisson of St. Damien Parish in Bedford. (This Bedford is outside Montreal, I think.) I think this may be my ggrandfather, but am not sure. He ended up in Richmond Virginia and his parents were Joseph and Mathilda, but every census he changed his birth information. His mother Matilda apparently had 12 children, all but 2 of who died young.

Would appreciate any help.
LHedgecock

Go to http://www.rootsweb.com/~almobile/mobfm2.html

SAVARAY

Gabrielle SAVARAY, one of thePelican Girls, so-called because they came to the colony in 1704 aboard the Pelican, was daughter of Pierre SAVARY and Jeanne FAUTISSE, and who had been born the 285h of January 1684 in parish of Saint-Denis where her godfather, Plomier DESELUSE had been an important merchant. Married Jean Baptiste SAUCIER and bore him several children (see listing under SAUCIER) Gabrielle is shown as a sponsor in a baptism in March 1715, then in December 1716, is shown as widow of Mr. Saucier as sponsor in another baptism. Gabrielle remarried to Pierre VIFVARENNE, sargeant in the Mobile troops, and their son Jean Baptiste VIFVARENNE, was baptized on 25 Feb 1719, Mobile -- the father shown as deceased. Gabrielle married a third time to Jean Baptiste SANSOT dit LaGRANGE. They were parents of a daughter Jeanne Gabrielle, baptized 18 Oct 1721. Gabrielle is shown as the widow Saucier in a 1726 census of New Orleans, with 5 children, living on Rue St. Pierre. Governor Étienne PERIER wrote in a letter, "We have not been able to refuse passage to the islands to the widow Saucier and to four of her children." A 1727 census shows the widow and 4 children living on Royal Street, New Orleans. The 1735 sucession proceedings show that 4 of her children survived her -- Henry Saucier, Jean Baptiste Saucier, Françoise Saucier, and Vifvarenne. 1, 2

Guiseppina Savoy of the Savoy House

I don't really know how to begin to search for a relative that may have been linked to the House of Savoy. According to my grandfather's brother and sister, their grandmother, Guiseppina Savoy was said to have been linked to the house. It is unknown when she was born or died, however, she married my great-grandfather, Guiseppe(Joseph) Sircusa. She died after giving birth to 4 children- Calogero Siracusa, Mario Siracusa, Anthony (Nino) Siracusa, and Maria Siracusa. They eventually lived in Cianciana, Sicily. Do any of you know how to find any information out of who my family is??
You should also know the Kings (Fred, Brian, Shirley, Wendal and many more) This may also put you into the Possey family side for the Thompson orgin.

I read your posting on the Savoy message board. I hope we are able to help each other.
I found on family search. org my Savoy info. on Francis Savoy (Savoie or Savoye) to
Thomas II of Savoy married to Beatrice De Fieschi. If it is same family as yours, how do i look for info of all the Savoy men wives? They give a first name then a title.
Here is an example. Marguerite,Princess Of
France she was married to Emanuele Filiberto,Duke Of Savoy. Marguerites' father is given just as, Francois I, King Of France no last name. Many of the wives just have a first name then a title, also their fathers have just a first name then a title. Some of the mothers also just have first name then a title. Did I get you confused? Sorry, If I did. Maybe if I give you the web site you could go and see what I mean.Just first name then a title, no last name. Here's the site.
www.familysearch.org/Search/an/pedigree_chart.asp?recid-1093... I hope I copied it right.
My question is how do I find out the last names?? I need to find individuals familys
(children).I can't do that with out a last
name.I also need a last name to be able to file info.
Second thing is, I found Amadbee V De Savoie married to Siblvile De Bresse. I think your Amadeus V Savoy is the same as my Amadbee V Savoy . What do you think??
I sure hope we can help each other.

Peggy in Lafayette, La.

Hi Drew, Do you have who Philpe was married to? I found on family search.org web site,on the Savoys a Philippe II Duke Of Savoy married to Claudine De Brosse. They had a child Carlo III Duke Of Savoy, which I think comes into my tree.
Also, I think I understand about the title thing. I just don't know how to go about looking for the info on a person with a title. So,I don't know how to follow up, or where to go from here. I'm just totaly con fused. I found a lot of info on familysearch.org but again I don't know how to follow up. How can I go to a message board, for example if I don't know the last name???? Help?
Peggy in Lafayette,La.
Hi Drew, Sorry it took me awhile to get back to you.
When I say follow up, I mean looking for children and other parents.
Example:
Tomaso Francesco,Prince of Savoy Carignan
Father:Carlo Emanuele I Duke of Savoy
Mother:Catherine Michaela Princess of
Spain
What is his mothers last name? Michaela?
How can I follow up on her? Some have just a first name followed by a title. Example,
Elisabeth Princess Of France. How can I trace
her family? {Parents and Siblings} I guess trace is a better word to use than follow up.
Any way how would I find Elisabeth's parents and sibs.? There's no last name.
I hope I explained it better.I hope you can understand and are able to help.
Thanks, Peggy

Partial - re: Ozia Savoy from Louisiana - m. - George Wheaton

Ozia Savoy was born November 6, 1895. She died September 3, 1989. She was from Port Barre Louisiana. Her first born son was John Benoit--born March 17, 1915--died January--1955. She then married George Wheaton. Jeff Wheaton was born November 29, 1928--died April 1974.
Lawrence was born June 21, 1916--died February 3, 1998. Joseph Wheaton was born July 21, 1937--died October 25, 1992. Adolph Wheaton died September 17, 1997. I do not have his birth date. I am looking into a family history for William Savoy who may have been her father. She was my grandmother from her first born son John Benoit. My dad and your dad were half brothers. My dad (John Benoit) was married to Enola Meaux before he married my mom (Amy Trahan). My brother Gurvis Benoit said he knows you. He told me that Aunt Edith had surgery last year for cancer. Uncle Jimmy is still living although he had a stroke. I am trying to find more information on Grandma. If I find out anything else I will email you.
