Cousin! My great great Grandmother was Liboria Friscia! She married Santo Marotta in Sciacca, Sicily. Her children- so much as I know and have been told were Santo, Gaetano, Ignatius, Giuseppe, Leonardo and possibly several more.

Please contact me with any and all information you may have on the Friscias. I will share what I have with you as well. I am so excited to have seen this!

Joseph and Josephine were both born in Sciacca, Agrigento, Sicily - it is on the South Coast.
Are Michael and Antonino Scafani brothers to Joseph? Are they sons of Luigi and Caterina Carella Scafani? Just speculation based on living arrangements and Ellis Island records -

My grandfather grew up in San Francisco in the early 1900's. His mother was Josephine Maniscalco, and father was Joseph Scafani... a fisherman. My grandfather's name is Anthony Scafani and is now 93 years old. This "L" dropping from Sclafani seems to be correct. The best we determined his parents came through Ellis Island from Palermo Sicily.

Luciano Sabella came to America from Sciacca, Sicily in 1887(b.1871) & Angelina arrived from Sciacca in 1888 (b.1880) (F-Scafani-M-Frescia)Married Luciano in 1895 They lived all their life on Francisco Street (312-314) had 12 children. 1. Bidgeta 2. Guissepa 3. Antonino 4.Angelo
5. Francesca 6. Giovanni 7. Lilliana 8. Francesco (still living age 95 9. Michele 10. Florinda 11. Eleanora 12. Viviana. Lillian Scafani was Angelina's Sister. Their mother lived behind Luciano & Angelina's house in a bungalow. Her name was Guissepa her husbands name was Angelo Scafani. The proper spelling of the sir name is Sclafani.

I do have a Marie Friscia in our family tree. According to my records my father had a cousin Marie. In the information I have, Marie was one of 7 children ( Rose, Joanna (Jen) , Louis, Victoria, Ann and Barry. Their parents were Luigi and Maria. They come from Caltebellotta , Sicily.

The other information was that Marie's brother Barry had two son's Barry and Robert.

Do any of these names seem familiar?

Looking for Joe Friscia son of Alfonso Friscia from the bronx New York,Joes niece or Daughter married a Martone of Martone Photographer,in the 70's or 80's. A leonard Picolli organized a reunion in 1986

Hi Michael,
The only Friscia I have is Marie Friscia 1868-1929SF. She married Antonino Scafani and had 9 children, all raised in San Francisco. I don't know anything about her parents, etc. Let me know if she fits in with your dad's family.

I have some information on my father. His name is Pasquale Friscia, he grew up in Caltebellotta. His father was Alfonso Friscia, married to 2 sisters, Maria and Rosa Giandalia. Alfonso was one of 11 children. His siblings were, Pasquale, Liboria, Francesca, Nicolo, Giovanna, Leonardo, Agatha, Luigi, Giuseppina, Arcursio.

Thanks for getting in touch. Do you know anything about the parents of Angelina and Lillian Scafani? I'm sure there must be a connection between my Scafani line and yours- how could unrelated people come from Sciacca to SF with the same name and live on the same street? My g-grandparents were Antonio b 1873 Sciacca and Antonia Tarrantino Scafani. They lived on Francisco St in SF and also had 12 children. Please contact me at millerbillanddeb@sbcglobal.net.

I don't know if this will help you. My grandmother's Maiden name is Angelina Scafani. She had a sister Lillian who married Joseph Delecarte. My grandmother's mother maiden name was Frescia. My grandmother married Luciano Sabella. They had twelve children. They lived on Francisco Street in San Francisco. In the early 1900's Her mother lived on the same property in a small house behind my Grandmother's home. I have almost completed a Sabella Family Tree that I have been working on for several years.
Maybe I could be of some help to you.

I was scanning the message boards and found your query.
I am just starting to research my sister-in-laws family. Her great grandparents were Antonino Scafani b. 1867 and Marie Friscia b 1868. Their daughter Angelina Marie (Angie) Scafani married John August Sansone. Their daughter Gloria Sansone married a Hogan and had my sister-in-law. Would love to exchange info. and learn how all of these Scafani s are related.
