I am looking for any information on the family name Scaife from Yorkshire. My Great Great Great Grandparents were John and Charlotte Scaife born Goldsborough and Alborough respectivley. There children were all born in the Knaresborough area (Scotton). My Great Great Grandma married Joesph Rhodes and moved to Pool in Wharfedale. Some of Charlotte and Johns other children moved to beverley.

I am Leo Scaife, Sr's. youngest son. My dad died in 1997. I am looking for information on our family ties. My dad was born in 1921 in Osceola, Arkansas. His father's name was Kemper Scaife, and his mother's name was
Ora Lee Dinwiddie. He had 11 brothers and sisters. I really did not get to know them, but I remember my dad had an Uncle Buck, whom he visited on a couple of occasions. I really would like more information if anyone can help me. Our name is not a common name, so I assume that the Scaife's all originate from the same lineage. Interested in making contact with anyone researching the family of SCAIFEs with siblings William and Abigail.

The will I'm reading, that of their uncle, Richard GRAHAM victualler of Clerkenwell in 1804 implies that they were under 21 then, and his brother Grimston's 1808 will indicates that their mother was Richard and Grimston GRAHAM's sister Jane.

Probably resident in Cumberland, but the IGI, usually good for the Parish of Arthuret, seems not to have them although there is a patron submission for an Abigail 1793 who appears to have married a William WRIGHT in 1814.

Another GRAHAM niece, Fanny, married a William SCAIFE just to confuse the picture for me.

My SCAIFE's come from around the Hunmanby area.
My dad - Malcolm SCAIFE was born 29/9/1936 & died in Billinghurt 8/2/1970 & is buried in Hunmanby cemetary (so I've been told).

His mother is Nora SCAIFE born 15/12/1915 in Bridlington & d1/7/2005. On 17/4/1943 she married George Watson STORK b10/3/1910 at Thwing & d30/8/2002.

Nora's mother was Mabel Annie SCAIFE b20/12/1893 in Hunmanby. She was a witness at her daughter's wedding but at that time signed as Mabel Annie LAWTY.

Mabel's mother was Mary Elizabeth SCAIFE b1878. I believe she married a Fred TOWSE in 1907.

Mary's parent's were John SCAIFE & Sarah FRANKISH b4/2/1852. They married on 30/5/1868.

I would be interested to hear from anyone who knows the above person. He was a witness at my great grandfather's first marriage in Pocklington, 1863. What I am hoping to find out is whether he was a church official or a relative of my great grandfather, John Moore, or his bride, Louisa Lamplugh. John and Louisa were 1st cousins. He died 1843/4 (Ulverstone).

She continued busines as a tailoress.

She later remarried in 1845:
George Henry Redpath YOUNG, a Berwickshire Sculptor/stonemason in Ulverston, redient near her shop.

Issue:
amongst other....

TARGET:::::: William J. LEES born c.1844/5 Ulverstone.
survived as Joseph YOUNG.

Need to ascertain parentage.

The following information was found as I researched my own family regarding Kenneth Doyle Scaife. He was born Aug 6, 1953 and died Jan 3, 1973 in Vietnam. He was serving on the USS William C. Lawe in the Gulf of Tonkin and was lost overboard. His body was never recovered. He is the Uncle of Heather (Scaife) Arkley.

He's my great uncle, in Bristow, Oklahoma. I haven't seen him since I was little younger (I'm 19, I last saw him when I was about 11). But I have been wanting to visit them for so long now.

I live in Central California (near Fresno). My last name is Franklin. I think my grandma on my dads side is Uncle Luthers sister.. but I have never really looked into it. He made a really large family tree listing that we used to have around the house that I would look at often but I have no idea what has happened to it since.

I am a Scaife my grandaddy was William (Bill) Scaife out of Troy,Alabama area. He had two brothers Cornellious (Sun) Scaife and Luke Scafe.Sun Scaife resided down in the South Florida area Haines City,Florida.
Luke Scaife stayed on in the Alabama area and I never herd much on him like my daddy's

It is correct that scaife is a localized name originating from the county of yorkshire. However contrary to one members explanation that it means ship, the word actually means wild, crooked, awry, and awkward. Believe me I used to be a scaife and this definition was totally in keeping with my character!!!
