Hi,
My wife is a Scarbrough from Texas. We are searching for information on her Great Grandparents (& everyone else up the line). Mack Scarbrough (12/4/1880 or 1882 - 5/29/1929) and Lou Vesta Wilkerson Scarbrough (1888-?). Lou Vesta remarried after Mack died and we think her 2nd married name is Barr (She married WM Barr in Shelby County, TX in 1934). Mack & Lou Vesta lived in San Augustine County, TX and had atleast 11 children: Sandie Bon, D.L., Della, Gracie, Noah James, Eugene, Agnes, Lonnie, Annie, Bessie, Letha - all are deceased. The family migrated to the Houston area. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I am interested in any information you might have on the Ohio Scarbrough families. Edwin(or Edmund )b.1875 d.1973 in Paulding Co., Ohio married to Mertie b. 1877 d. 1954. His father was Daniel b. 1854 d. 1942 in Paulding Co., Oh. Wife Martha J. b.1873 d.1898. The family verbal history says yhat Daniel's family came from S.C. Thanks for any help you can give.

Sarah was born in 1888 and William was born in 1896 or 1897.
He was born in Mclean County,Illinois. Sarah and William lived in Fristoe, Missouri. They had a lot of kids. Some were adopted out, some ran away. I need to know the names of these kids. I know of one--James Everett Scarbrough, born Oct. 15, 1914. He lived with his parents til he was 14 and then he ran away. All I care about is finding James' siblings. Can someone help me?

The first time I find my Jacob SCARBROUGH is when he married Nancy GOLDMAN SMITH, widow of Westley SMITH, on 22 July 1855 in Crawford County, Indiana. They are then enumerated on the 1860 census for Crawford County as SCARBRO. Jacob's age was 33, making his possible year of birth about 1826, and his place of birth was Kentucky. Nancy's children from her first marriage (Margaret & Westley SMITH) were in the home, as well as her children with Jacob, Moses and Sarah SCARBROGH. By 1870, Nancy was widowed, and living in Knox County, Indiana (enumerated as SCARBERO) with children Sarah, Mary E., and Louisa SCARBROUGH and Westley SMITH. (Nancy died between 1900-1910 in Greene County, Arkansas.)

I can find no other SCARBROUGHs of any spelling in Crawford or Knox Counties in Indiana, or surrounding counties, in 1850, and haven't a clue as where to begin searching in Kentucky.

Does anyone have a stray Jacob?

My great-grandmother was a Scarbrough. They were and are in the Old Campbell, now Fulton Co., Henry, Clayton and Rockdale co. I had Amos listed but only thru his death notice. I track all Scarbrough's and one of these days I'll tie more of them back to my group. any info. you have will be helpful and I am willing to share what I have with you,

His father is James J. Stewart b.7/8/1849; d. 12/15/1928 and he married Susan S. Williams.

His grandfather is Benjamin Stewart b. 1807 LA and mother is Rebecca Jane Taylor.

His great grandfather was John Benjamin Stewart b. abt 1784 and his great grandmother is Susan Brashears whose parents were Zadoc Brashears and Susannah Vaughan.

I am trying to locate the father of James Emmitt Scarbrough who was born in Ala 5/17/1830 and died there 12/9/1895. His father and mother were both born in Ga. He was married to Mary Elizabeth Moorer who's parents were from SC. The names James, Elliot, Emmitt, and Evans run through every generation so far not sure if it continues back further. I can't figure out why there are so many Scarbroughs in Alabama and they all say there parents were born in Georgia. Was there one family that son's migrated? Can anyone help?

These pictures were found in the personal effects of Delzie Mace Ollis and her son Baxter Ollis of Avery County, North Carolina

I am trying to determine who the girls were. Do they fit in the Mace or Ollis family tree?

Delzie had a brother Joe Mace who lived in Asotin County Washington, are they part of his family?

Amos Calvin Scarbrough fathers name was Amos Lester Scarbrough, mother is Onnie Scarbrough. My grandfather Lester has passed away yrs. ago. His mother Onnie Scarbrough is still in Jeffersonville, GA. Will try to find out more tonight.

Ms. Phyllis,

You might try one of two things. Call the court house in
Lake City or one of the chruch's located in Lake City and
they should be able to give you the exact location of the
cemetery.

I just did a findagrave.com check and I found a Mr. Cline in
Oak Lawn Cemetery in Lake City, also Julia Cline.

I am looking for info from my grandfathers side. His name is william Earl Scarbrough. His father and mother was William Leander Scarboro and Lizzie Huckaby. She is burried in Anderson Co. in the Dutch Valley area. She was also either full/part Cherokee. They had 11 children but my grandfather was born much later in life so we do not have any info of our history. PLEASE help me help my family...

Tattoo Marks Lead Officials to Believe prisoner Is an Express Robber

Oklahoma City: Detective Tod Warden made what is regarded as a very important arrest in the apprehension of one Tony Scarbrough. The man was arrested on suspicion of having been concerned in the hold up robbery of William Dietrick, which occurred in the Santa Fe yards recently. Officer Warden arrested the man on a charge of vagrancy.

The Frisco Railway company and the Wells Fargo Express company became interested in the case and made special inquiry concerning certain tattoo marks on one of the prisoner's arms. Upon hearing his arm there was exhibited in tattoo characters the letters "T.W."

This seemed satisfactory to the railway and express people, and is less than twenty minutes the wires were busy conveying to company headquarters news of the arrest, and it is expected that special officer will reach here to investigate the man Scarbrough, who is believed to be Tony Ward, a noted express robber.
