24 September 1927 Evening News of the Tonawandas
Niagara Falls Drowns at Ann Arbor
Dominick Scarpino, 20 years old, of Niagara Falls was drowned last Sunday, while swimming in a lake at Ann Arbor, Mich., where he attended the University of Michigan, and the body was not recovered until Thursday afternoon, when it was sent to his home. The funeral takes place today. More than two hundred students at the university joined in the search for the young student, who was a member of this year's sophomore class. The body was recovered about a mile from where the accident occurred, carried there by the strong under-current. The boy was a graduate of the Niagara Falls high school, where he was prominent in athletics. During his first year at University of Michigan he made excellent progress.
