I think you will have to visit the Gelderland archive in Arnhem for that.

What are you trying to achieve? Note that Dutch courts do not do weddings, if you are looking for Arnhem marriages try Genlias http://www.genlias.nl/

I suspect that the Schaap-Cohen marriage and the death of Eva Schaap did not take place in Amersfoort, though.

I found a very good source for information at the following links (one is in Dutch and the other in English).

http://www.genlias.nl/nl/page0.jsp (Dutch)

http://www.genlias.nl/en/page0.jsp (English)

They have birth, death and marriage records back to 1810. You can research by state and town or the whole country. Some states have more records entered than others. Ex. Noord-Holland has only marriage records loaded while Gronigen has birth, death and marriage records. These records can be printed out and do have a lot of information. Some marriage records will give you birth dates of bride and groom while others give only and age. It'll give the day it was registered and where. It also lists parents for both bride and groom (mother's maiden name is listed). It also will give occupations but you may need a translation because that part will be in Dutch. I've used this site and have added several generations to my father's side of the family. One thing is the site sometimes can act goofy. Just be patient because you can get a lot of information.

If you know where your family came from in Holland try going to www.genlias.org. My family came from North Holland, Utrecht and Groningen and I was able to find records going back to early 1800s. They are constantly adding more records. The site has birth, death and marriage records. The marriage records give a lot of information and were extremely helpful and I was able to add several generations to my tree. One thing about this site is it can be a little finicky at times so you just have to keep trying. A little frustrating but well worth the effort if you come up with any records.

Thank you Lori.... I'm sure it is the same Schaap. I am not seeking Schaap family history... I was told my ggrandfather George Nelson Goldsberry and his family lived in the old Schaap house from about 1873- 1884... and the children went to St Anne school. His oldest daughter Jessie, married William Jasper Cook the Cookville store owner and postmaster. I'm trying to prove George lived in the house or one near by. This house was located in Laclede County and the front fence was on the Pulaski county line. I also desire a photo of the house. The .5 mi x 10 mi Laclede county strip has been part of the Fort Leonard Wood bombing range until last year when it was given to the Mark Twain National Forest....

I am in contact with actual Schaap relatives and would be happy to share them with you. contact me directly at

goldsdlf@lamar.colostate.edu regards, Ken Goldsberry

Craig: I saw your posting and thought I would try and get in touch with you concerning your Schaap family line. I don't know if I can be of any assistance but I do have some information about a Schaap family that immigrated from Germany in 1857 and settled in Weston, Platte County, MO with my family (the Nass family). The information I have from my great-grandmother's obituary is that she immigrated in 1857 with the Nass, Intfen, and Schaap families and settled in Weston, MO. In the 1860 Weston, MO census Peter Schaap is listed as Peter Shipp. His wife is listed as Henrietta and their children are William, age 20 and Albert, age 10. Could this be the Albert Schaap that you mention as your Ggrandfather? My G-grandmother's sister, Margaret, married William Schaap in 1865. He was active in the civil war. After they marry they move to Atchison, KS where they spend the rest of their lives. They have 8 children together: Dora, Minnie, Mary, Nellie, William, Margaret, Peter and Albert.
I don't have any specific information about William's brother Albert but if this is the same Albert you are researching, this may give you some leads.
I do not have any concrete information on the families immigration although I did find the following information on Peter Schaap in Germans to America, 1850-1874. The search on Peter's name revealed the following information: Peter Schaap, age 50, gender male, Port of embarkation: Havre, France, Final destination: New Orleans, Ship's name: Baden, Date of Arrival: April 30, 1857. A search of the Nass name and Intfen name on the same ship did not yield any results.
I hope this information helps. If it does, please let me know. I have access to records in Atchison, KS and may be able to find more information.

She too is burited in Sacramento. They owned a saloon and at some time a cigar shop. They were also involved in other businesses. Let me know if you have more information on Albert and his arrival to the US. Where did he enter the states and when? Information on his brothers and sisters? We have alot of information regarding the time spent in Sacramento and have actually located the burial sites.

From there they proceedd to Holland, MI.

Looking for information on my ancestors. My Grandmother was born Melinda Elizabeth Schaap, circa 1886, I think in Missouri. Later moved to Sacramento. Her father was Albert Schaap, who migrated from Holland. Melinda's brothers included George, Grover, and Albert Jr. In early 1900's Melinda married Frank Bacon. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

OTTO SCHAAP FAMILY, COOKVILLE, MO, EARLY 1900'S

I am seeking contacts familiar with the Otto SCHAAP family who owned a two story log home near St. Anne school and Church a couple of miles from Cookville, MO. This area is now part of Fort Leonard Wood (as of 1941). The SCHAAPs bought the house (we think) from George GOLDSBERRY, who was there from about 1877 to 1886... I desire a photo or word picture of the house and any records related to it. I would appreciate any suggestions for contacts or, for locating information. The house burned on 8 or 9 Feb 1922...any stories related to this would also be appreciated.

Re: Jan Schaap

I am researching the Bloemers surname. Right now I am concentrating on the two brothers and their families that came to the United States from Winterswijk, NL. The brothers were Gerrit Willem Bloemers and Jan Albert Bloemers. Gerrit Willem settled in Sheboygan County, WI, which is where we are from, and Jan Albert who settled in Holland, MI. My husband is a descendant of Gerrit Willem Bloemers. We have tons of info on Gerrit Willem Bloemers and his descendants but very little on Jan Albert. My records indicate that Jan Albert b. 07 August 1797 was married on 17 September 1823 to Johanna Kobus b. 08 November 1794. They had four children, Harmina Bloemers b. 15 January 1824, Jan Christiaan Bloemers b. 04 March 1827, Janna Gertruid Bloemers b. 30 July 1830 and Jan Derk Bloemers b. 02 November 1833. I think the girls may have married T. Keppel and Jan Schaap.
