I'm trying to locate information on Francis Schad who was variously a saloonkeeper/proprietor of Woodland Garden beer garden. Related (?) to Joseph Shadd, my greatgrandfather, who was also a saloonkeeper and also one of the first bottling business in the Louisville area. Francis married Matilda Freking in March of 1857. Both Francis and Joseph worked together in the saloon business so I presume relationship. Any information related to these relatives would be appreciated. Thanks

This is the story of the Kern/Schad family and Opal and her older siblings growing up with Tulsa from territorial days to statehood and through 2 World Wars, etc. Opal's son Harry of Tulsa, OK gave me permission to transcribe and put his mother's book online. It is not available, except at the Tulsa library and by Opal's immediate family.

Opal's mother Emma Justine Harrison Kern was the youngest sister of my GG-grandfather Richard Elijah Harrison.

Please keep in mind that I do not have any information on
anyone in this book except for the ancestral Harrison lines, which I will gladly share with interested parties.
I hope that you will enjoy Opal's book.

Mrs. Pauline Robles, 84, mother of Oscar Robles and Mrs. L.J. Souther of this city, died yesterday. She was a native of Switzerland and had been in Sacramento for sixty six years.
Her husband was the late Charles Robles. Two borthers, Thomas and Isador Schad, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Zoller, live here.
Friends are welcome at the chapel of Harry Nauman and Son and the funeral will be conducted tommorrow morning at the Cathedral of Blessed Sacrament, with interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Gottlieb Schad (57 in 1880) wife Rosina Magdelina , Children of Gottlieb were: Charles Frederick Schad 23, Lena Schad 20, George Schad12, Lewis Schad 8. This is as listed on Indianapolis 1880 census. There were also other children listed names hard to read. There was a son 19 Allan or Allba? and a daughter 17 Emma or Errica? I assume there were other children as well that were living on thier own as Gottlieb was 34 when Charles Frederick was born. Also living next door there was a George Schad I assume of some relation. Gottlieb's family was in the US prior to the Civil War as Charles Frederick was born in Indiana 1857

I am looking for information on Hildegard Schad, my great-grandmother. I know nothing of her life before she married my great-grandfather, August Gartner. I'm not sure if Hildegard August knew each other in Germany, or if they met in the United States. I'm not even sure yet when August arrived in the US, but I have found out that he petitioned for naturalization in 1888. Hildegard and August eventually settled on Mount Troy Road, Pittsburgh, PA where they raised their 7 children: Joseph Charles (my grandfather), Thomas, August, Ray, Herman, Mary, and Florence. Charles joined the 1st New York Light Artillery on October 8th 1861. He was 15. On May 1st 1863, on the battlefield at Chancellorsville, he was wounded just above the right knee. They amputated the leg on the battlefield.

My great-great grandfather was Fredric Schad, who immigrated to Maryland/Ohio in the 1860's from Munich. He married Jeanette Schweikert and had twin daughters, one who died early and the other was Violet, my great-grandother. We believe that Fredric had a brother William, but are unsure if he immigrated at the same time. Can anyone help fill in the blanks? Thanks!
