I have been searching my Schaeffer roots since 1968 - to say it has been difficult is putting it mildly. The various spellings of the surname do not make it easy to connect families.
For the sake of uniformity and sanity, the surname spelling will be Schaeffer - even if the research documents show another spelling.

Here is the research on the first 6 generations of the SCHAEFFER's that Joanne and I have put together. There has to be others searching this family who can connect to our lines.

The SCHAEFFER's begin in BERKS County and then the area becomes SCHUYLKILL County - they resided in such places as MIDDLEPORT, BLYTHE TOWNSHIP, TAMAQUA, BROCKTON, MAHANOY CITY, MAHANOY TOWNSHIP, GIRARDVILLE, ASHLAND AND CENTRALIA, which is in COLUMBIA County. So they got around and there are a lot more of them than what in our outline.
