I have James Lewis Schamp born Feb. 18, 1852 in Ohio. Died unknown. Shows married to a woman madien name Sutton, born July 4, 1849 in Nebraska. They had 6 children. You have that info? James parents were Napoleon Schamp and his wife Matilda A. Willeby. I have info on them if you need it. My relative was brother of Napoleon, who was Aaron Schamp. James was brother to Emanuel, Jerome and Napoleon. I know many Schamps move to Nebraska sometime late 1850's to early 1860's. I just noticed, James' son Joseph's middle name is Sutton. After his mother? Let me know if you need more info. What do you need?

Denny

I'm looking for any information on James Lewis Schamp born around 1952 in Ohio. I believe he is the son of Napoleon Bonaparte Thompson Schamp and a brother to Jerome and Emanuel Schamp. I believe after their parents died they moved to Iowa or Nebraska.
Also looking for information about his wife Sarah E. I'm unsure of her madien name or where she was born. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have been off this board for sometime. My email adress is dshamp@cinci.rr.com. There is a book in the Library of Congress I have mentioned before called Schamp-Schomp and Lane Families written by William Smith in 1985. It has the families going back to Ghent, Flanders in 1590. You can request the Library of Congress to copy it for you and they will send you a copy. I don't remember the cost. It is on Microfilm 88/5973.
Hi.

I don't have a great deal of information for you on the Schamp family but will send what I have. Basically, there was a Catherine Schamp who married a David Biggs 23 Mar 1803 in Hunterdon Co, NJ Liber and Folio for the record are 1-72 and the officiator at the ceremony was J.P. Cole.

I also found a record - History of Hunterdon Co. - that listed the "Schomps" among those people who immigrated from Long Island in 1712. It only gave last names. Interestingly, the Biggs family name was also on that list.

My interest is to find out if the David Biggs in this marriage record is the same David that married Catherine Schamp. Should you uncover a list of children for this couple, please let me know.

Thanks.

Peter Sharp Schamp

I last saw it in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1976. In 1989, I could not locate the owner of the Bible, and as he was elderly, I assume he either died or retired to some other town. I am descended from him thru his son John.

Susan Shamp

Susan was my old baby-sitter. I remember her from my youngest memories which would be when I was two or younger. She was really good friends with my mom. We used to live in Corvallis (I don't know if the spelling is right) Oregon. The last time I saw her I was about nine years old when I went back to Oregon to visit my family. I now live in wisconsin. I don't know who her husband is. The las I knew I think she was divorced I think. She lived alone or maybe with her daughter. I also know the last I heard her daugter had a baby.... but that was a long while back. I could give you a lot of details that Susan would know... if it is the same susan. If you ask her, I'm sure she would know who I am. She probably knows my name is Monika, but back then I was always called Nika because my sister couldn't say Monika when I was first born.

Please talk to your susan to find out if it is the same one. I've been looking on and off for the past four years or so. But since the dream I had, I've been looking pretty desperately.

Please contact me as soon as you can.

Susan Schamp

I am looking for a Susan Schamp. I am not sure if that is her maiden name or not. I know she has a daughter named Kristy. I'm not even sure if I spelled Kristy right. Susan used to baby-sit me and my sister. I had a dream that she died, but have been unable to find her since then. I moved out of state and have not seen her since 1992. I am hoping I can find any information concerning her.

Hi Terry

Well, you may find an ancestor or two listed, but this is an old document. There aren't any addresses. It belonged to Peter Sharp Schamp. I have digital copies of photocopies someone made years ago. Would you like me to email them to you? If so, put your email address down and I'd be happy to. They list births, deaths and marriages with a copy of Peter Sharp Schamp's marriage certificate.

Schamp/Hopkins of Hutchinson, Kansas

Looking for information regarding a Jennie Schamp and her relationship to the Hopkins family of Farmington, Missouri. I have a picture dated about 1880-1890's of 2 children (probably boys, ages about 5 and 8), taken by McInturff of Hutchinson, Kansas. On the back of the picture it says: "For Fannie Hopkins from Jennie Schamp." Fannie Hopkins (Fannie or Florence B. Chadbourne) was married to James A. Hopkins of Seattle, Wa. I would like to know how these Schamps were related to this Hopkins family. I also have a newspaper article dated 1920 about a Hopkins family reunion in Farmington, Mo. where it states that Jennie Schamp was the sister-in-law of Michael K. Hopkins. Michael K. and James A. were the sons of Lewis F. and Anna Catherine Hopkins (nee: Domer) and there were 11 children: Eli D., Edie K., Mary Agnes, Annie Elizabeth, Jeremiah, Emma, Michael K., James A., Sarah Catherine, George Blair and my great grandmother Alice Margaret. Any information will be appreciated.
