Matt, I can't help you with Schatzman family history, but can with his wife, Louisa "Lulu" Pacetti. She was the dau of Francisco Gomerlo Pacetti and Angeline Clarke, and b. abt 1854 in Savannah. I have the Pacetti's going back all the way. Check my webpage: http://www.mccown.org

I am researching the Schatzman's because they are my husbands family. His mother was Viola Schatzman (William Wyley Schatzman, Reason Frederick, Christian Frederick, Peter).

This is great. It is exactly what I was looking for - Eva's maiden name. Thank you. Now I will try to find the record of the Schatzman's immigration to the US. So far I've found a record of five Schatzmans coming to the US on the ship Petit George on Cot. 5, 1831. There is one feamil age 33 (could be Eva) and four males ages that look like 10, 7 3 or 5 and 3/4. One male died on the way over.

I too have been unable to locate the Peter Schatmann family in immigration records. I have seen several references to 1829 being the year they came to America, including the bio in the History of Brown County, Ohio which I posted in a previous thread here and in the obituary of son Frederick. The bio of son Joseph in the History of Brown county states he was born Sept. 28, 1828 and was 11 months old when his parents came to America.

In the 1830 census, there is a listing for a "Peter Shotsor" in Belmont Co, OH. The ages fit pretty well with the Peter Schatzmann family.

It lists:
1 male 30-40 (Peter b. 1792)
1 female 30-40 (Eva b. ~1799)
1 male 10-15 (Frederick b. 1816)
1 female 10-15 (Elizabeth b. 1818)
1 male 5-10 (Peter b. 1821)
1 female 5-10 (?)
2 males under 5 (Christian b. 1826 & Joseph b. 1828)
2 females under 5 (Wilhelmina b. 1828 & ?)

Info on Eva's maiden name came from a book entitled "History of Brown County Ohio" published in 1883.
On p. 209 in a chapter on "Franklin Township" is the following:
"Shotzman Family

The founder of this family in Brown County was Peter Shotzman, a native of Germany, who married Eva Wagner and emigrated to America about the year 1829. They located on the farm adjoining that now owned by Homer Pindell where they resided through life. The latter died July 7, 1850 and her husband exactly one month later. They were the parents of fourteen children, ten of whom are living- Frederick, Peter, Louis, Christian, George, Reason, Caroline, Christina, Lillie and Joseph."

Please note that the names of Peter and Eva's daughters are incorrect. Caroline, Christina and Lillie are the daughters of Joseph. Peter and Eva had four daughters living in 1883: Wilhelmina, Catherine, Eve, and Sarah.

Go to Genealogy.com virtual cemetery and ou will find the grave markers for Peter and Eve. Also, Peter and Eve are listed in teh 1850 census under Sholsman in Franklin, Brown Co., Ohio. I have the info for his family in the 1850 census and subsequent census. By 1860 the family was in Maysville, Mason Co., Kentucky. I am having trouble finding verification of when Peter and Eve came to the USA/

your Anna Maria Schatzmann born August 1st 1837 had four siblings, two died as babys.

Parents:
Hans Jakob Schatzmann, from Windisch AG, born July 22nd 1793, dead May 19th 1840
married on October 3rd 1822
Susanna Müller, from Wuelflingen-Winterthur ZH, born July 6th 1798, dead not clear could be 1882

Do you like more informations about parents of Hans Jakob Schatzmann and his siblings? Sources?

My great-great-grandmother Anna Maria Schatzmann was born on 1 Aug 1837 in Windisch, Aargau. Her father was Johannes (Hans) Jakob Schatzmann of Windisch. I don't know if she had any siblings so I'm guesstimating his birth years as around 1815. Anna married Alexander Samuel Umiker on 28 Feb 1865. They had 8 children (2 who died as children. Anna died 6 Jun 1883, 4 months after giving birth to her 8th child. Does a Johannes Jakob Schatzmann born circa 1815--possible in Windisch but not necessarily--match anyone's records?

Hmm. Agewise, your Jakob could be a younger sibling to my Johannes (Hans) Jakob Schatzmann. I'm not sure if his family originated in Windisch or just settled there around the time that Anna Marie was born. Keep me in mind if you find a connection to that village.

Migrated south, spent several years in Cartersville, Georgia before settling in Macon, Ga where he established a blacksmith/carriage making business.
