Hi, George,

I'd have to lie to tell you I am not disappointed as the trail to anyplace beyond my grandmother, Marie Teresa Schieck DOB 1877 (or 1873) seems at this point not to exist. Eduard is not the Uncle Ed I knew as his sisters names overlap with neither with those of my mother's generation, in which case he was Edwin Milan or with my grandmother's generation in which case his name was Edwin Schieck with a brother named Joseph Schieck/Schenck.

I do thank you for getting back to me, however.

Sincerely,
Robin
Roberta M.
Hi Roberta,
My father was the youngest. His name was Harry. His sisters in order of birth were Julia, Anna, Katy, Dora, and Margie. Margia moved to (Wyoming?) and the others stayed around Highland Mills. When his mother died my father lived with Julia. For some reason which he would never talk about, he cut off all contact with his other sisters. My mother said it was because Julia was the only one who offered to take him in when his mother died (he was about 17). I don't know and never learned the reason. He wouldn't even talk about his parents. Oh, the mystries of our families.
George

It is possible we are related. My grandmother lived most of her life in Dutchess County, New York, and in the late 1930's and possibly early 1940's she lived in Liberty, New York, which is in Sullivan County, I believe. Highland Falls I believe lies in Ulster County between the two. As among us I find there are still scraps of information remembered, it really would help if you could find the names of your father's siblings. Names that are quite positively the names of my grandmother's siblings are Ed, Joseph, Bessie and possibly, Marga, Ottelie, and Pauline. Another name of a relative was Bertha. Marie Teresa Schieck married Robert Charles Milan in Westchester County, New York State

My grandfather was Eduard or Edward and he died about 1908. His wife was Anna. They lived in Highland Falls, NY (mid-Hudson). I haven't found any male relatives of my father in that area. They had four (?) daughters and a son (my father). I think I have the daughters names written down at home.

My Schech family lived in Chicago. There are many Scheck descendants from this family, but I don't know of any Schechs. The name was originally Czech back in Germany... actually in Pommern... near Lauenberg. Related? I have a lot of info. My email is KurtfromEarth@aol.com I live in Lockport IL near Chicago.

Hi cousin! I saw your grandfather's name in the Churchbooks from St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Chicago. His birthdate was Jun 27, 1889. On Jun 8, 1912, at St. Matthew's, he married Clara Geisler (born Sep 25, 1892 in in Gross Liblow, Hinter Pommern). His father, Gustav Schech was born Dec 7, 1854 in Wutzkow, Pommern. Johanna Jandt was born about Nov 1853. Gustav was the son of Wilhelm Czech and Johann Bliss (born Mar 16, 1827 in Garzigar Pommern... died Jan 18, 1911 in Chicago). Wilhelm (about 1825, maybe 1830?) Schech had a brother Johann, who also moved to Chicago. Johann's son Otto was my great-grandfather. Please write to me KurtfromEarth@aol.com and we can exchange information. Kurt Hitzeman,
Lockport, Illinois.

Linda - I'm sorry; I meant Johanna Bliss.
In 1900, Gustav and Johanna lived at 972 W. 18th Place in Chicago (West Town). The 1900 Census says they immigrated in 1883.
Gustav's brother Herman (1859) lived at 1065 W. 21st Place with his wife Minnie. Brother
Ferdinand (1867 - metal polisher) lived at 397 W. 23rd Place with his wife Emma. Brother Albert (1869 - a Stove worker) and his wife Louise lived at 933 Roscoe St. Brother Fred (1871) and his wife Adeline lived at 817 Melrose St. An older brother William (1852) and wife Ernestine also lived in Chicago at the time. These famlies had many children, mostly Boys. Our Scheck family is a large one, especially your branches. Kurt

His cousin Lucy Petermann married an Emil Scheck -- who was much older than she was -- and they had 1 child -- Roland. It is my understanding that Emil died in late 1970. Lucy just passed away in January 2001. Roland doesn't keep in touch with any of the family so no one knows what he's up to.

Please email me and let me know if we are part of the same branch on the Scheck Family Tree.

Thanks!!!
Kathy

Do not know much about her other than she is my GGGrandmother on my maternal line. She had a child with a man called Friedrich BLETZINGER who came from Merklingen Alb. I do not know if they were married or not but their son was called Johannes BLETZINGER. Friedrich and Johannes were both farmers & I think fairly well to do.
Hope there's some connection!
Vanessa

Friedrich "Ernst" SCHECK, Bauer and Drechsler in Rutesheim, married Rosine Katharine SCHENK. They had my great grandmother, Anna "Marie" Scheck. She married my great grandfather, "David" Jakob Stegmaier, Guillocheur from Geislingen an der Steige. They had my grandfather, "Alfred" David -also Guillocheur. My mother was his only child born out of wedlock to Klara Kolb.

Thank you for the spread sheet on the Scheck family of Rutesheim! I would like to address some confusion, the Anna Maria "Muckaus?" is the surname Muck -umlaud over the "u" - [Mueck - Mu"ck] ...who married Johann Michael 1821-she must have been the sister or maybe a cousin of Rosina Mu"ck who married Johann's brother, Johann Georg 1821. The women's surnames on the sheet are listed as "Mu"ck" and the "aus" is german for "from", with the Letter "I" and number "267" following both of their names as referring to the town they are from, listed on another sheet somewhere. Any time you see "aus" after a name on the Scheck sheets it refers to "from".
