I am looking for any information on the Schemmel line of McCartyville, Ohio. Edmund (Edward) and his wife Josephine had 7 children - Lucille Cecelia, Caroline (Carrie), Elizabeth T., Anna, Mary, John and Henry. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. diane

Katharina Schemmel, Schilling, Schennel

Searching for birthplace of Katharina Schemmel, Schilling, or Schennel. my GGGrandmother, who was Born 25 Feb 1835. (different spellings of Maiden name).
According to 1860 US census, she was from "Nassau" in Germany.
Father's name was Adam Schilling on Death Certificate in 1911
I suspect she was born in the Duchy of Nassau which was conquored by Prussia about the time she imigrated to Chicago. Later on, she listed her birthplace on subsequent US Censi as Darmstadt-Hesse.
She married Adam Dexheimer and imigrated to Chicago in 1854. Any leads will be most appreciated. Thanks

Hi, i´m looking for more information about my family. Here in Peru we are few and we descend from a same familiar branch. I do not have much information about my grandfather´s grandfathers that are those that came from Germany, I only know that he was called Charles or Karl Schemmel and his wife was Amalie Agatha Brenner Richter.
They have sons: William Louise, María Guillermina, Matilda Juana, Bernardine JOhanna and my grandfather´s father was Guillermo Luis or Wilhelm i don´n t that good. If you know more about that information, please write, i will be very thankfull. (Please forgive my english)

Schemmels of Transylvania

Hello,
My great grandfather Peter Schemmel was born in Transylvania in 1891. His parents were John Schemmel (he died when Peter was very young) and Mary Drodler. My great grandfather had two sisters Nettie and Mary.
Peter and his two sisters came to Ohio around 1908.
We have no idea how or why our Schemmels ended up in Transylvania. WE have always been told they are German.
Any one else researching this family?

Schemmel Tree Information

I have been working on the Schemmel tree for some time. Take a look at Rootsweb.com. I uploaded my information there. Rootsweb is a free family tree site. I'm from the Eastern Iowa clan. I have traced them to the Western Iowa Schemmel and back to John Schemmel in Telgte Germany. I know of a clan in Wisconson and another in Washington but cannot tie to them yet........
