John and Mary Scherer are my 3rd Great Grand Parents. I have traced back to them through my Mother's side of the Family (Schafer).
Nicholas Scherer, born in Scheren, Germayn June 1833 and his Brother Matthias Scherer landed in New York, in 1846. Nicholas was then 13 years old.
Nicholas married a Frances Uhlenbrock (Indiana).
Nicholas donated land to the Town of Schereville, Indiana and thus the town was name after him.
His daughter Anna Scherer, my Great Grandma, married to Nicholas Schafer. They had 10 children, Nicholas Jr. Edwar, Mary (Schiessle), Joseph, John (my grandfather) born October 11, 1882 (Schereville), Frances, Albert Elizabeth (Cromer), William and Clarence the youngest.
John Schafer married Anna E. Held, born Dec 6, 1884 (Chicago).
Mildred (my mother) and George were the two surviving children.
I am interested in finding out information on relatives who may still be in Germany or from Matthias branch of the Scherer family or relatives from Nicholas and Anna Scherer's off spring.
