I have done extensive research into the descendants of Alonzo Hendrick Schermerhorn because Alonzo's grandfather, Captain Jacob H. Schermerhorn, left Schodack after the revolution. His son Hendrick/Henry moved to South Hammond, Saint Lawrence NY in 1835. His grandchildren were not included in the 1914 "Schermerhorn Genealogy and Family Chronicles" by Richard Schermerhorn. (The book is still available for Higginson Books at their website fro $66.50. (www.higginsonbooks.com) This book is being given an update and is expected to be published by the great grandson of the original author, Richard Schermerhorn. His e-mail address: richard@schermerhorns.com.

ALL of our Schemerhorn/Schammahorn cousins are descended from Jacob Janse, son of Jan, grandson of Jacob Ryer born 1622, Schermerhorn, Holland. Jacob came here 1636, took Schermerhorn for his name, married Jannetje Egmont and had one son Jacob Jacobse (which means "Son of Jacob"), Jacob had 13 children with Antie VanVechten and THEY are the original Schodack Schermerhorns.

Lets see: I am the son of Merritt Randall, Jr., son of Merritt Randall Sr. and Frances Esther>Frederick Alonzo>George Alonzo>Alonzo Hendrick>Hendrick>Jacob Hendrick> Hendrick>Jacob Junior>Jacob Jacobse>
Jacob Janse would be my line to the original. I missed bing a direct descendant by that much.
May I also suggest that you contact Bill Schemerhorn (Bill12242@aol.com) and Kit Craven (NiteOwl226@aol.com). They are, in my opinion, the resident experts for the family genealogy.

Does any of this help? If you have anything on these names in your research I have room for more information on:
Bickelhaupts, Emrichs, Hartmanns, Nisbeths, Printups, Viebrocks, Websters, Zollers.
