Euphemon Schexnayder

Would anyone happen to have info on Euphemon Schexnayder (sp) that married Eve Frederick from Abbeville, LA? Perhaps Euphemon was his middle name?

I would like to have info on Euphemon, like his parents, birth year, siblings, time of death, cause of death. My Great Grandmother was Eve's sister, Marie Gracieuse Frederick.

In addition, Marie Gracieuse Frederick named her first son Euphemon; this would be my grandfather. Church records show that she (Marie Gracieuse) was not married at the time of my grandfathers birth in 1896 and the church record does not list a father. However, I have some family info that indicates that I may be more Schexnayder than Berry and am trying to find out if anyone else knows this family history. My uncle married a Harrington and it seems the Harrington's knew of this part of our family history and said that my grandfather was named after Euphemon Schexnayder because he was my grandfather's father and not Joseph Berry. 6 months after my father was born, my great grandmother, Marie Gracieuse Frederick married my great grandfather Joseph L. Berry.

I was told that around the time that Marie and Joseph married, Euphemon Schexnayder died. I may not be able to verify any of this and am ok if I can't.

At any rate, Euphemon Schexnayder and Eve Frederick are in my family tree and I would like more information on the Schexnayder side of the family. In addition, if there are any Schexnayder's that are from the Euphemon Schexnayder and Eve Frederick line, I have pictures of Eve Frederick's grave in Abbeville if they would like copies. In addition, I have copies of Eve's sisters graves, Marie Gracieuse and Mathilde. My mother and I travelled to Abbeville a few months ago and found the Frederick Cemetery, would be happy to share these pictures.

Thanks for any help you might be able to provide. If you would rather email me directly, barbara_a_ervin@yahoo.com

Barbara Ervin

Hi,

I am not sure if Sidonia is in our line, I will ask my Aunt and let you know. She is living in Kaplan and has been there for more than 50 years. I would love to have info on the Schexsnayder family line in LA, specifically Abbeville. See request below.

Would you or anyone happen to have info on Euphemon Schexsnayder (sp) that married Eve Frederick from Abbeville, LA?

I do not have any info on Euphemon, like his parents, birth year, siblings, time of death, cause of death.

My Great Grandmother was Eve's sister, Marie Gracieuse Frederick. Marie Gracieuse Frederick named her first son Euphemon; this would be my grandfather. Church records show that she was not married (Frederick is her maiden name) and the church record does not list a father. Approximately 6 months later Marie Gracieuse Frederick married Joseph Louis Berry.

I also have very little on Joseph Louis Berry so if someone out there has info on the Joseph Berry that married Marie Gracieuse Frederick, again I would appreciate it. It looks like from the Census records that when Joseph married Marie, sometimes called Gracie, he had with him a child named Sussanna. This child may have been from a previous marriage, perhaps to an Eakin. I learned recently, from an Aunt that is in her mid 80's that she thinks Joseph Berry is buried near Bell City.

Thanks, if I learn anything about
Sidonia, i will let you know.

Barbara

Sidonia Schexnayder is my husband's gggrandmother. The information I have is that she was born in 1871 in Louisiana, to Ozeme Schexnayder (b. 1845) and Octavie Lorio (b. 1854). However, I am unsure as to the accuracy of this information.

I do know that she was married to Camille J Troxler.

I am looking to verify this information, as well as her death date, place of burial, and her marriage date. Also, who are the other children of Ozeme and Octavie Schexnayder?

Any information out there would be great. Thanks.

Well--I finally solved the case of the missing Ludger Schexnayder family in 1870 census. They were living in St. Mary Parish , looks like, through the 1870's and by the 1880 census, were located in Jeanerette-Iberia Parish. I had problems finding them in the census because Ludger was listed as "Henry" Schexnayder, but the wife and kids all matched. Anyone who need this family info, I have some church records on the children.
Eleanor Brown
bayoupots@fastmail.fm

Shirley--
My grgrgrandmother was Cephalie Druillet-2nd wife of Michel Ludger Schexnayder. Michel was a stepfather of my grgrandfather, St. Paul Bourgeois and he lived in their household when they moved from St. James Par. to Jeanerette, LA. Michel and Cephalie had 6 children by thier marriage, from my records. My grgrandfather was by Cepahlie's 1st marriage, so we are not really blood cousins but our families are intertwined.
I will be glad to share any info I have and am always looking for info on my Bourgeois family that would have lived at the same time as your Schexnayder's in St. James Parish--esp. in the mid 1800's throught the Civil War times.
The 1870 US LA St. James Parish census shows my grgrandfather St. Paul Bourgeois (age 9) as residing with a J. Schexnayder (female, age 38). Just the 2 of them. I cannot find Ludger and Cepahlie in the St. James or Iberia Prish census records at this time. Do you possibly know who J. Schexnayder would have been and where Ludger and Cepahlie might have been?
Any help would be appreciated!
Eleanor Brown
Bayoupots@fastmail.fm

Hi I am working on my family tree and I have a great grandfather named charles schexneider and grandmother named aspasie hargrave. I am looking for charles' parents. His wife was killed by lightening along with her two year old son named ceasar and her unborn child. We don't know what happened to charles at that time, as he pobably remarried and had another family. I think his father may have been named toussaint schxneider but I am not sure. I have looked in father donald hebert's books but I can't come up with anything. Charles was born about 1850 and married about 1876. Aspasie was born 13 april 1856. and died about 1880. My grandmother was just a few months old at the time and was pobably raised by some family member. Would this give you any idea who charles' parents might have been. Well let me know anything you may have on that line.

dayton simon
Jay would you have the death date for Magdelaine Schexnayder, daughter of Andre Schexnayder and Catherine Rixner? She was married To Louis Maillard. I thought for a long time she was the mother of Paul Maillard born abt. 1800, but when i received the volume 17 Archdiocese of New Orleans Sacramental Records at the marriage of son Paul Maillard to Marie Arceneaux it listed the mother of Paul Maillard as[ Louis dec. and Felicite Picard?] , so i then found in the book St. Charles written by Glenn Conrad this bit of information in the Paratition of the Estate of the late Andre Schexnayder and late Catherine Rixner, it said that out of their eight children all were living but one namely Magdelaine, wife of Louis Maillard. This is dated Mar. 5, 1799. If Paul was born 1800, he could't be her child. I have really had a hard time finding dates for the Maillard family. Ayn help would be greatly appreacated.
Connie-

I do have the ancestry of Victorine Schexnaydre. Her parents were Ozémé Schexnaydre & Odelia Lorio. I should also mention, that Victorine's husband, Louis F. Haydel was the first cousin of my great-great-grandfather Robert J. "Bob" Haydel (1870-1940). So if you are interested in the Haydel family as well I have that.

Please email me if you are interested in exchanging information jmschex@etigers.net

Dayton,

Unfortunately the information you've provided does not lead me to say who the parents of Charles may have been. I have many a Charles and Toussaint. It would help if I knew where they lived. Please feel free to email me.

Thanks,
Jay
jmschex@etigers.net
