Hello, I'm looking for information about my great grandfather Peter Anton Schick (b. in NYC, 8/1880, d. 7/1949, m. Antoinette Wocl, 1909) and his brother Carl B. Schick (b. in NYC, 1872). Both are listed on the 1900 census living in Manhattan with their mother, Mary, stepfather, Peter Hoppstein, and two stepbrothers, Frederick and Theodore Hoppstein. Thank you so much for your message. There seems to be a strange connection here and perhaps we should explore it further. We could well be related.

We lived in 29 Tancsics Mihaly Utca, Ujpest until December 1956.

Indeed my brother would spell his name Andras however, he was taken to Auschwitz in June/July 1944. He was then a 3 year old little boy so the probability of him being in Hungary is probably nil. He is more likely to be living in USA or Israel, if at all. I was not adopted by my parents, my father was my real Dad, only my mother was not my real parent.

Perhaps some research on your part would be beneficial, one never knows what is in the future and sometimes huge surprises are thrown at us. Your message has really shaken me.

What is your Mum's first name? How wonderful you still have her.Perhaps a marriage certificate would throw some light on the family name she was born with.

I think your brother would spell his name Adras if still in Hungary. As for the name Sarosi, My Mom lost her parents durning the war and was adopted as a kid by her new parents who had the name Sarosi they also changed there name to that surname not sure what they were before that, and my mom cant remember. But they also lived in the Ujpest district that is number 4. I know if you would goto the city hall in district 4 ujpest and knew your brothers DOB and full name for a small fee they will give you his birth cirtificate and with that and another fee can get a where abouts where he lives if he stayed in Hungary or died in Hungary. I dont know of anybody living from the Sarosi family, they ether died in the war or from old age, My Mom is still alive and lives in Szilvasvarod Hungary. Have a magical week.

William Schick/Shick

Am trying to locate information about William Baker Schick/Shick. He was born 30 November but in 3 different records gave different years (1884, 1885, 1886). On the WW2 draft card he said he was born in Lincoln, DE with a wife Mary.

I know his mother was named Emma, born in PA 1859, a widow by 1900 and living in DE with her 2 sons; William and Samuel Miles, born 1882.

I believe William may have moved to NY after 1942 and died there in 1962.

Does anyone know whatever happened to him? I have some questions about his family I would love to ask.

Family Photo - SCHICK, Frank W., Ella, Kyle, Calvin - Kansas & Michigan

I recently obtained an old group photo dated approx. 1900 of the children of Frank W. & Ella SCHICK. The children named on the back of the photo are: Cloe, Kyle, and Calvin.

From the censuses, I learned that Frank (b. 1865 MI) & Ella (b. 1866-1869 PA) were in Sterling, Kansas, for the 1895 state census & 1900 federal census. Both sons Kyle and Calvin were born there in Sterling according to the WW1 draft registrations. Cloe was born Feb 1891 in Kansas, Carl/Kyle was born Nov 1893, and Calvin was born Nov 1895. The family moved to Michigan (also the place of Frank's birth) by the 1910 census where Frank & Ella remained for the rest of their lives. Sons Calvin and Kyle can also be found in Michigan later. I haven't learned more about Cloe.

I don't believe this is the same Charles. The Charles Schick I am seeking was born in 1879 in New York City, the second child of Frederick and Elizabeth Schick. In 1900 he was single and living with his sister Pauline OCHS in New York City. Altho I have a great deal of information on his parents, I've found nothing on Charles since 1900.

Thank you for posting the picture. The wedding scene is beautiful to behold. Since I myself am a Luebke, and am familiar with the family features, I would venture to suggest that the Luebke's in the photo are the couple behind the bride and groom to the far left.

Looking for family of KARL FREDERICK SCHICK, who married Elizabeth Rosina REICHERT in NYC in 1874. Both were born in Wurttemberg, Ger. in 1844, and were still living in NYC when she died in 1896.

Elizabeth was my gr-aunt. Her siblings were Philippine, Wilhelm, Caroline (Ruff), Pauline, Gottfried, Jacob, Christian and Charles.

1920 Census: Name: Lydia Schick - Age: 27 years - Est birth year: abt 1893 - Birthplace: Illinois - Race: White - Home in 1920: Chicago Ward 26, Cook (Chicago), Illinois - this could be about the right age for the photo pre1920.

Then in 1930 Census there is a Name: Lydia Schick Age: 17 - Est birth year: abt 1913 - Relation to head-of-house: Daughter
Father's Name: Henry Schick - Mother's Name: Eva Schick - Home in 1930: Oshkosh, Winnebago, Wisconsin

If the wedding was for Luebke in Oshkosh, I bet the above is her. Did you locate the Luebke family yet?

Ferdinand & Michael Schick - Temeswar, Hungary

I have been searching for these 2 brothers for a very long time....

I found the manifest for Ferdinand (Nandor) Schick from Mehala, a suburb of Temeswar, Hungary, who was joining his brother Michael (Mihaly) Schick in Atlanta Georgia in 1906.

I found one Michael Schick immigrating to America in Feb 1906, he was joining his brother in law Josef Bihag at 738 E 144 St, NY, NY. - he could have went on to Atlanta due to work opportunities.

Temeswar is the Banat area of Hungary, today it is Timisoara, Romania. They were ethnic German and Catholic. They were somehow related to the Marmon and Zimmer families.

I found an obituary notices for Katy Schick who died July 30, 1907 at her residence on Milton St., in South Atlanta. She was married to Michael Schick. The church services were held at Immaculate Conception and she is buried at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, this is also where our Marmon family is buried.

Samuel Schick(s)/Shick(s)

Am looking for any information leading me to find Samuel Schick(s)/Shick(s). He was born about 1884 in Pennsylvania. He married Rose Edna Deputy (Edna Deputy) 1905 in Milford, Sussex, DE. Their daughter Mary Burton Shicks (she never knew the spelling) was born December of 1905. They are listed in the 1910 Milford census. After that Samuel and Edna separated and Samuel disappeared. I located him in the 1920 Tenton, NJ census but after that nothing.

Mary is my great-grandmother. She never knew her father and wanted me to find him. She passed away in 1998 not knowing if she had any family. I can't find any information on him. Hoping someone can maybe lead me in the right direction.

I couldn't believe what I was reading just a few moments ago because my grandfather, Ernest Frederick Schick, told me the same story about our family being related to hitler, aka schickelgruber, the name being shortened on the trip from Germany. To make it even more interesting, my Mother has the Grupps on her side which are said to be the missing Krupps, so my Father fought in a war that one relative started and the other made the munitions for. Looking for info on the SCHICK/SCHIECK family from Neckarbischofshe, Germany prior to 1730. Johann George Schick b. 1683 md Anna Barbara Schieck b. abt 1685. They had a daughter Anna Maria b. 1705 md to Johann Wendel Ackerman on Sept. 4, 1725. She left with her husband and children for America in 1750 on the ship the Osgood. I would like to know more about her siblings, parents, and ancestry.

Tom, Do you have any information on Peter's family? I have a Lillian M. Schick b. July 1865 in PA and married John B. Parsons. She died in 1931 and is buried at Wildwood Cemetery in Lycoming CO PA. I have not been able to locate her in early census under Lillian. Thanks Ann

Hi there, I live in Connecticut. This is pretty awesome information! Do you know how your Grandpa John got to Wisconsin? I was told by some of John's nieces (which were Frederick's children) that John and his son George lived in New Jersey for awhile (because that's where John was born).

My great great great grandfather also immigrated around that time. His name was George Schick Senior and he might have had a brother named Joseph, George came from Baaden or Hesse Cassel, Germany. Mose of the names of your Joseph's children are very similar to my family's ancestral names. There could be a connection.
