Am trying to locate information about William Baker Schick/Shick. He was born 30 November but in 3 different records gave different years (1884, 1885, 1886). On the WW2 draft card he said he was born in Lincoln, DE with a wife Mary.

I know his mother was named Emma, born in PA 1859, a widow by 1900 and living in DE with her 2 sons; William and Samuel Miles, born 1882.

I believe William may have moved to NY after 1942 and died there in 1962.

Does anyone know whatever happened to him? I have some questions about his family I would love to ask.

Family Photo - SCHICK, Frank W., Ella, Kyle, Calvin - Kansas & Michigan

I recently obtained an old group photo dated approx. 1900 of the children of Frank W. & Ella SCHICK. The children named on the back of the photo are: Cloe, Kyle, and Calvin.

From the censuses, I learned that Frank (b. 1865 MI) & Ella (b. 1866-1869 PA) were in Sterling, Kansas, for the 1895 state census & 1900 federal census. Both sons Kyle and Calvin were born there in Sterling according to the WW1 draft registrations. Cloe was born Feb 1891 in Kansas, Carl/Kyle was born Nov 1893, and Calvin was born Nov 1895. The family moved to Michigan (also the place of Frank's birth) by the 1910 census where Frank & Ella remained for the rest of their lives. Sons Calvin and Kyle can also be found in Michigan later. I haven't learned more about Cloe.

If anyone is interested in this photo, please email me.

I have just recently found out a lot of things. First, my G-grandfather and all three of his brothers were orphaned due to an epidemic that killed their parents and grandparents. They were all sent to an orphanage in N.Y. I am not sure how long they were there for, but I do know that all four boys were sent on an orphan train to the west. I know where three of them ended up. These would include: Frederick Schick(my G-grandfather), John Schick, and Ernest Schick. The missing one is Henry Schick. No one knows where he ended up. What I do know about Henry was that he was born in 1899 in Newark, New Jersey. I hope that someone can tell me something about him. Thanks!!

Schick, Fred (spouse of Marjory Schick of Blissfield MI)--Looking for links to Adolf Hitler?

Hi there
My grandmother told me when she married my grandfather Frederick Schick that his parents (her inlaws) told her that when they came over from Germany the last name used to be Schickelgruber--which was Adolf Hitler's father's name; and was then changed to Hitler. It was shortened to Schick when they came over to the U.S.
I am trying to do research to find out if in fact this is true and if I am (unfortunately) related to Adolf Hitler. :(
Adolf Hitler's father's name was Alois Schickelgruber.

Can anyone tell me anything about this or how I might find more information? I'm just curious and wondering if this could be true. Fred Schick was my grandfather--my mother's father.
Thank you so much for your help!

Lisa

Ferdinand & Michael Schick - Temeswar, Hungary

I have been searching for these 2 brothers for a very long time....

I found the manifest for Ferdinand (Nandor) Schick from Mehala, a suburb of Temeswar, Hungary, who was joining his brother Michael (Mihaly) Schick in Atlanta Georgia in 1906.

I found one Michael Schick immigrating to America in Feb 1906, he was joining his brother in law Josef Bihag at 738 E 144 St, NY, NY. - he could have went on to Atlanta due to work opportunities.

Temeswar is the Banat area of Hungary, today it is Timisoara, Romania. They were ethnic German and Catholic. They were somehow related to the Marmon and Zimmer families.

I found an obituary notices for Katy Schick who died July 30, 1907 at her residence on Milton St., in South Atlanta. She was married to Michael Schick. The church services were held at Immaculate Conception and she is buried at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, this is also where our Marmon family is buried.

Anyone with information about this family, please contact me...
I have some information about my great grandfather's family going back to the early 1700's in this area. I'm looking for additional details, but especially siblings along the line.

Karl Schick married Catharina Koffler on 1889-01-21 in the Catholic church in Durmersheim.

I have some evidence that some of my great grandmother's ancestors migrated to the Black Sea area. I'm also looking for more details on this.

Searching for information on Peter Schick & Caroline
Durst/Durish (d/o John Durish b. Germany). They were
both born in Germany. Came to the USA in the 1850's I
believe. Their first for children, Katherine, Charles,
Edward, Matilda were all born in Buffalo, New York.
The fifth child, Emma, was born n Kansas. Then there
was Anna , Albert, ____, Frank & Harvey were born in
Akron, Ohio. Many of them are buried in Mt. Peace
Cemetery, Akron, Ohio.
Also, looking for information on a very common name
--Smith.. My great great great grandparents were John
Smith and Mary Salch. Do you know how many John
Smith's there are---to many. This couple were born in
Germany. John came over first, sent for Mary and they
married in the U.S. They had 14 children. I believe
they resided in Wayne Co., or Summit Co., Ohio. They
are buried in the St. Vincent's Catholic Church
Cemetery, Akron, Ohio. Many of their desc. still
reside in Ohio. Any info. would help.
Am looking for any information leading me to find Samuel Schick(s)/Shick(s). He was born about 1884 in Pennsylvania. He married Rose Edna Deputy (Edna Deputy) 1905 in Milford, Sussex, DE. Their daughter Mary Burton Shicks (she never knew the spelling) was born December of 1905. They are listed in the 1910 Milford census. After that Samuel and Edna separated and Samuel disappeared. I located him in the 1920 Tenton, NJ census but after that nothing.

Mary is my great-grandmother. She never knew her father and wanted me to find him. She passed away in 1998 not knowing if she had any family. I can't find any information on him. Hoping someone can maybe lead me in the right direction.

Thank you so much for your reply. I've been stuck for so long. My father is Keith Schick,(b. 1957 in Walla Walla, Wa), and his estranged father is Jack Wayne Schick. He lived in Ellensburg as a child, however he did not grow up with his father, Wayne Schick. Any details as to why Wayne and Lorrene( Jack's mother) didn't stay together has never been said which is pretty much the case all the way around. Jack married a Donna Hamilton (my fathers mother), and I believe they lived in Walla Walla, and Kennewick, Wa. I believe Jack has three sisters, Dottie, Betty, and I am not sure of the other's name. Thank you for taking the time to reply, I hope this info will help, one more thing, I believe my aunt told me she had found Gpa Wayne in Colorado somewhere but unsure of details because no one ever seems to know or want to say. Thank you J.

My name is Marta Schick-Kennedy. Andris was my brother whom I never knew, think he may have perished in Auschwitz but have reason to believe he may have survived. We are Hungarian, my father changed the name to Sarosi after the war. My brother was 3 years old at the time and could be anywhere in the world if he lived. I do not know where to go for help, I have tried the usual channels of Yad Vashem etc... You can e-mail me at martakennedy@msn.com if you can offer any assistance.

I am not related to any Schicks (at least I don't think I am) but I have just purchased an 1801 fraktur (PA German birth record) that seems to be about a Schick family from Montgomery County, PA. The old German lettering is very hard to read, but what little I THINK I have been able to translate appears to say:

"Salme Schick is from Christ and her parents born (in the morning of?) April 20, 1801 in Pennsylvania in Montgomery County in New Hanover Township. Her father (is) Henry Schick and her mother (is) Maria (Schick?). (She was baptized _________ by Pastor Henry ________?) The sponsors were Ludwig Schick and his wife Maria."

I am posting this here in the event that the information is of some use to Schick family researchers.
