OBIT: Bertha augusta Schimmel

Bertha Augusta Schimmel was born in Benton township, McCook county, SD on Jan 23 , 1887 ( I am guessing on this year, 1887, because the bottom part is blotched with ink.) where she resided with her parents until Sept 3, 1902, when she was united in marriage to Mr. Chris. Peters. The two years following their marriage were spent at Cornelius, Oregon, when they returned to this section and have resided near Spencer since. (This would only make her an age of 15)
Besides her devoted and sorrow stricken husband and three children, Walter, Dorothea and Leonard, deceased, leaves one sister, Mrs. Mary Peters of Sheldon, ND, and two brothers, Arthur Schimmel of Plewna, Montana and Roy Schimmel of Swine City, Iowa.
Called from her life of usefulness at the age of 33 years, 8 months and 4 days, Mrs. Peters' untimely death has caused a vacancy which can never be filled. Surrounded by a kind, loving and devoted husband and three splended children, she had everything to make life sweet, so much to live for and so hard to give up. But "God's will be done".
The profound sympathy of the vast number of friends goes out without reserve and unretarded to the grief wrecked home which has been deprived of a faithful ardent and true wife and a tender , loving and devoted mother.
I have not figured out her parents names.
Can't find any family trees or anything about her.
Any help appreciated. Joan Bessette
My Schimmel family came to eastern South Dakota and settled in the communities of Spencer, Salem, Yankton, Freeman, Marion .

According to SD census, William G. was born in 1871 in Wisconsin. I found all the census.
He married Ida Louise Fiskey in about 1893.
I can not find anything on her birth about 1872 or her death about 1943, if that is the right year.
They were both born in Wisconsin, but don't know where and they died in Yankton in 1950, I think, at least I know William did.
Can anyone help me with Ida's family information. Her parents? Sisters? brothers? and where she lived. Did they come to SD after they were married or before?
Does anyone have obituaries for either, William or Ida. Thanks for your time, Joan

Hello,

I am trying to find information on my Great Grandmother's last husband William Frederick Schimmel. The only information I have is his birth date 19 Mar 1884 in Missouri. He married my Great Grandmother Prilla Melvina Elizabeth Arminta Josephine Stowe on 01 Jun 1925. I have seen them listed on the 1930 census index. I would like to find out where William is buried, city, county, state, and cemetery. I do not know his father's name but his mother's name was Dorothy which was listed on his WW1 draft card.

Please email if you find any connections....

Scott
Dad's original name was Jake Wolf, which was later changed to Orville Joseph Jacob Schimmel. I have made contact with someone who is related to a Joseph Scott Schimmel and was hoping someone can help me verify, for sure that he was my Dad's father. Joseph and Olga's address on the Birth Certificate was 5714 Trenton; Detroit, MI. His occupation was listed as Interior Decorator on the birth certificate. Your help is greatly appreciated.

George Schimmel b 1795 Germany m Mary ? b 1798 Germany

The subject couple had children George 1828, Adam 1832, Anthony 1835, Mary 1837, Joseph 1838, Ann 1842 & John 1845. The last is my 2ggrandfather.

George and family were in Auglaize Co., OH in 1850. They came from Germany in 1848 according to John's 1900c. John's daugher Emma Elizabeth married my ggrandfather Samuel Dardinger in 1889.

I've only been able to trace John and would like to know what happened to George, Mary and the rest of the children. Since my grandparents and several of Emma's siblings lived in the Columbus, OH area, I'd expect George or at least some of his children were still in Ohio in 1860, 1870 & 1880, but I haven't found them yet. Can anyone help?

I might add that there's a Conrad Schimmel in Auglaize Co., OH in 1860 who would work as a brother of George. Conrad's son George 44 b Bavaria has a son Charles b 1844 OH, so they might have come over before George and wrote home for George to join them.

Robert C. & Jean Schimmel of Inkster, Michigan

Hi! My siblings and I are trying, with the help of my father, to nail down some of his information from WWII. One piece that is missing from our research is what became of the pilot on one of our dad's planes during WWII. Robert C. Schimmel was the pilot on the Evanton Babe of the 452nd Bomb Group. Dad ended up flying with another pilot, but he always wondered what became of Robert C. Schimmel. One time during training they Schimmel flew them over Inkster, Michigan, to say hi to Robert's wife, Jean. Anyone know anything about either of these people or their children, if they had any? Thanks so much--it would mean a lot to an old WWII buddy.... Marilyn

Schimmel, Charles from Indiana

Seaching for Charles Schimmel (born abt 1874 in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana) to Casper and Margaretha (Roth) Schimmel. No leads other than postcards Charles sent to his brother William Frank (born 1868 in Evansville; died 1944 in Evansville). The postcards were postmarked in the early 1900's from St. Louis, Missouri and Chicago, Illinois. Believe Charles was married to Marie, who died in St. Louis and was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Evansville, Indiana in 1935. Don't know if they had any children or when Charles died. If any of this sounds familiar, please reply.

Thanks, Julie

I would really like to find Marvins family because he married my aunt Vivian Deuchars on 1-2-1925 at Mitchell, S.D. They did not have any children that I know of. Somebody has to have his birth certificate. Don't know where he was born or maybe I could send for it. He died 1-25-1965 and would like to know where at. My aunt Vivian was married to Richard Radway and Marvin was married to a Regina who was born in 1916. I have pictures of Marvin and Regina if anyone is interested. Please help! Sincerely, Joan (Deuchar) Bessette

Caspar became a naturalized US citizen in 1853 in Vanderburgh County, IN (record at Willard Library, Evansville). Any info would be appreciated.

Katharina SCHIMMEL, NYC, 1800s

Katharina SCHIMMEL was married to a Georg WEGER, yr. unknown (approx. 1850-1860?), in Germany, location unknown.

Looking for information on the families of Georg WEGER and Katharina SCHIMMEL. Daughter "Lizzie" (prob. Elizabeth) married a Lauritz NEUMANN in New York City on April 6, 1891. Marriage record indicates Lizzie was born in Germany, was age 30, and her parents were witnesses at the ceremony. Address given for both bride and groom was 652 155th Street (does not indicate East or West, but must have been West if in Manhattan).

Lizzie must have died sometime between the marriage date and 1919/1920 - because we know Lauritz did marry again and was shown in 1920 census as head of household with second wife.

Am wondering if Lizzie had any children, or if anyone has a connection to any SCHIMMELs who came from Germany and settled in NYC. Please, if you feel you may have info on this family, please respond by posting here or send me an email directly.
Schimmels from Waibstadt, Duchy of Baden

My ancestor John Schimmel, settled in Rochester, NY in 1847, and married Dora Lottes of Bavaria. Their children were John, Frank, and Magge. John Sr. was born in Waibstadt, Duchy of Baden, in 1814 to Valentin and Magdalena Hoffherr Schimmel. Have copies of John Sr.'s naturalization papers, and also Roman Catholic marriage and birth records of this line dating back to 1760 in Waibstadt. Was informed by professional German genealogist that records for this family date back to 1598 in Waibstadt. Should you be related to this particular Hoffherr-Schimmel branch, I would like to hear from you.
