Robert F. Schlichting
GRAND GORGE — Robert F. Schlichting, 72, of Frevert Road, Grand Gorge died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at the Margaretville Memorial Hospital in Margaretville.
He was born July 28, 1926, in Oyster Bay, the son of Arthur and Catherine (Karlos) Schlichting. He was married to Sheila Phillips.
Bob was a veteran of the United States Navy and the United States Army during World War II. He had lived in Grand Gorge for the past eight years, moving here from Lindenhurst. For many years he was a heating technician and brick layer and retired in 1992.
Bob was a member of the Stamford American Legion Post No. 1379. He loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila, of Grand Gorge; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert F. and Mary Schlichting Jr. of Lindenhurst; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Kevin Prag of Londonderry, N.H.; grandchildren, Renee, Kevin and Andrew; two sisters and a brother. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Janet, and a son, Bryan.
Funeral services and calling hours were held Sunday at the Hall Funeral Home, 142 W. Main St., Stamford, with Millie Sparling, United Methodist Church speaker, officiating.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in Bob's memory to the Grand Gorge Rescue Squad, Main Street, Grand Gorge, N.Y. 12434.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Hall Funeral Home, Stamford and Grand Gorge.
