His father was Christian.
I am looking for information on Christian Schlichting and info on his wife Christina (Deuicle ? unsure on her maiden name)

Schlichting from Prussia to Chicago

My great grandmother, Amalia Schlichting (b. 1839) married my gr grandfather, John Schoennauer, in Chicago in 1869. She died in 1919 in Seattle. Her father was Fredrick William Schlichting who apparently was born in West Prussia and died in Illinois (dates unknown). He had a son named Fredrick born in 1837, two years older than Amalia, and died in 1909. can anyone help with further information about the Schlichting name, possibly extending the line further back to its Prussian roots? Further data can be found at .

I am trying to find information on my great-grandfather Maximillion Schlichting, born in Vienna, Austria. He married (?) my great-grandmother, an English woman named Edith Reed and had a child, Edith, but was deported on the outbreak of World War II. He was never seen by his family again, although there is a story in my family that my great-grandmother saw what she believed was him in footage from a concentration camp documentary.

Hello,
A friend of mine recently bought a box of old professionally made photographs (61) of the family of Ella Schlichting Cubbage of Davenport Iowa. Ella's parents were John H Schlichting and Mathilda Misfield. John's parents were John Schlichting and Anna Stark. Photos of these folks are included. Please see the USGenWeb, Scott Co., Iowa site for scans of these photographs. Thankfully, Ella Schlichting Cabbage wrote the names on the backs of the photographs.
I am not related to this family. I'm just another genealogist who wanted to scan and preserve the photographs for family and researchers.
Thanks, Sandra Zenger

I recently acquired info that Elizabeth Schlichting (b. 3/18/1825 and wife of Frederick Schuldt) had two sisters who became "Mrs. Stromer (Henry's mother)" and "Mrs. Jerse". I believe the Schuldt family immigrated in 1866 and were accompanied on the ship by "Johanna Schlichting". They settled in Hancock county, Iowa. Anything sound familiar to anyone?

Friedrich Schlichting - a long shot!!

I am looking for any info on Friedrich Schlichting the father of Henry John Joseph Boldt born 15 June 1863, Henry's mother was Anna Maria Dorothea Boldt; she was not married to Friedrich. Anna was born about 1840 in Mecklinburg, Germany and came out to New Zealand in 1873 (it is not known exactly when or how or who with), her 3 illigitimate children (all by different fathers) came out with Anna's brother Johann Peter Friedrick Boldt on the Chile in 1874. In New Zealand Anna married Johann Christian Friedrick Rose on the 16th October 1873. So as I say it is a long shot but if anyone knows anything on Friedrich Schlichting it would be great.
My Grandfather was Ferdinand Schlichting, born in Germany in 1870, came over from Hamburg in 1885 at the age of 15. The story goes that he was coming to America to avoid the Prussian War..?? He came to Boston where he settled in the Jamaica Plain/West Roxbury area. In 1891 he married Martha Praetsch who had come to America with her family in1881. He died in 1921. I have not any other information about him.
Maybe he had other family back in Germany? No one in the family seems to know anything about him beyond his coming to Boston. I would appreciate any info that you could give me.

schlichting beginning genealogy book

i have a book that i picked up by accident when i was book shopping and i would be willing to let it go for a dollar and shipping cost:
The Family Heritage Book, published by Beatrice Bayley, Inc. No publication date, but appears to have been published in the last ten years. This has a certificate inside the book made out to the original purchaser. This book is a beginning genealogy book designed for a Schlichting surname. The book discusses history, genealogical formats and abbreviations, sources and types of records. There is a section on the addresses of known Schlichtings in the United States.

first one that wants it, gets it.
i am not on this list so i won't be watching the messageboard. it was quite by accident, lol. so you will have to email me if you want it. shamlet@earthlink.net
