Well, after further research, namely burial records, bernard Schlosser died in 1924. Although most things I find here on ancestry point to him being married to a Helen (last name unknown) I also have info that list a Lenore Oehman or Ohma as his wife. I have a marriage certificate of my grandfather John Schlosser and grandmother catherine Morton. On this it lists he is the son of Bernard Schlosser and Leonore Ohma or Ohmer(hard to make out the writing.)
Possibly there was a second wife, but not sure which was the second. I haven't found a birth certificate for either of the women listed and can't find a marriage certificate for Bernard.

Bernard Schlosser was my great grandfather. I am also trying to find the maiden name of Helen. Bernard was born in 1852, and died in 1908.

My father's name was Charles Edward Schlosser, his father was John Schlosser who was born in 1889 and died in 1935. I just became a full member of ancestry a little more than a month ago and just came across this message. Did you ever find any information on Bernard and Helen Schlosser?

FYI - her father was born with a stub to his elbow. Very interesting man. I'm sure your mom would remember that the mom had severe issues with post partum deppresion.

It's possible that his family were Austrian but I have not yet taken him further back because it is so difficult conducting research in Germany when I live so far away and don't speak the language!
Schlossers in Austria

My great great grandmother was Franziska Schlosser, born in Austria 9 Mar 1827. She married Georg Gruber, born 3 Apr 1821 in Austria. Their children, also born in Austria, were Robert, born 22 Mar 1852; Joseph, born Mar 1857; and Rosa, born 17 Aug 1862. They immigrated to Wisconsin, via NYC, in 1864. Franziska's mother, Theresia, born about 1794 in I assume Austria, immigrated with them. Georg and Franziska moved to Pierz, Minnesota in 1879/1880. He died 1 Jan 1883; Franziska died 5 Jun 1905. I would appreciate any help/information on them in Austria or about any other family members.

My grandfather is Elvin "Lucky" Schlosser. My dad, Rocky, was his eldest son. My dad, Rocky, died April 16, 2003. My grandpa Lucky had a hard life because his mom, Tena, died when he was 6 yrs.old while she was in childbirth. His older sister, Evelyn, helped take care of him. His dad went crazy later on in life (I guess he was in WW1 & got blasted with biological weapons like Agent Orange & that's what caused him to be that way). Grandpa also told me that his great-grandma was a Cherokee Indian (Elizabeth Warfield who was married to George Schlosser).

Gebhardt Schlosser

Gebhardt SCHLOSSER was born about 1838 in Grand Duchy of Baden. He was 18 when he arrived in New York City in 1856, thus an assumed birth year of 1838. He emigrated in Jun 1856 from Grand Duchy of Baden. He arrived in New York City on 1 Aug 1856 aboard the ship Cynosure, which had sailed from Le Harve, France, on 24 June 1856. Ignaz Schlosser, age 28, arrived with him. Gebhardt served in the New York State Militia as a private in Company F, 6th Regiment, New York State Militia, from 19 Apr 1861 to 31 Jul 1861. The 6th Regiment initially trained at Staten Island, N.Y., from April to June, 1861, after which it sailed for Santa Rosa Island, Florida (near Fort Pickens) on the steamer Vanderbilt. The regiment was converted from infantry to heavy artillery while in Florida. It was mustered out at Staten Island, N.Y., on 25 Jun 1863. Gebhardt Schlosser was mustered out with his company. He resided at 149th Street and Third Avenue New York City, New York in 1873, where he died on 17 May 1873. His burial place is unknown.

Gebhardt SCHLOSSER and Mary Ellen RYAN were married on 19 Aug 1861 in New York City, New York. Mary Ellen RYAN (daughter of William RYAN) was born about 1839 in Ireland. She immigrated in 1850. She resided at 149th Street and Third Avenue New York City, New York in 1873. She resided at 675 Morris Ave. New York City, New York between 1880 and 1900. She resided at 40 St. Lawrence Ave., New York City, New York, in Feb 1908. She was granted a Civil War widow's pension on 29 Feb 1908 in New York City, New York. She was approved for $8 per month, which was increased to $12 per month on 19 April 1908. Her pension application was witnessed by Rosanna Schlosser and Joseph W. McGhee. The file includes affidavits by Joseph W. McGhee and Margaret Hoffman. She resided at 1413 Beach Ave. Bronx, New York in Jan 1909. She resided at 685 Morris Ave. New York City, New York in Mar 1910. She died on 28 Mar 1910 in New York City, New York. She was buried on 31 Mar 1910 in Calvary Cemetery, Woodside, New York.

I live in Snohomish County, WA not too far from Marysville. My wife is a Schlosser and I have researched her family history. We don't think there is any connection with your Schlossers. We are not sure what kind of help you are looking for.

I am lookiing for connections to family of Mathilda Schlosser. Her obit reads from Snohomish, WA. Mathilda Marie Schlosser, age 92, of Marysville, died August 22, 2002. She was born October 29, 1909 in Chicago, IL to Henry and Florence (says O'Donnal (which is wrong; should be Durphy) Shear (spelled wrong; should be Sehr).

I am interested in researching her children listed in the obit as: Mathilda is survived by her sons John Schlosser, Richard and wife Ida Schlosser, James and wife Penn Schlosser: daughters Helen and husband Charles Curnett, and Heneretta and Husband Toml sister Vera; nine grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren.
Can anyone point me in a direction to start looking? Snohomish? Any information or help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for responding. Mathilda's obit was from 2002. Since it listed living relatives, I was hoping to find them if they are still alive. I have no birthdates, or other information other than what is in the Obit. Obviously it would be easiest to get the information from living relatives who (hopefully) have first hand knowledge of their immediate family. I have recently been researching the tree and made contact with people in the other lines, so I guess I am just trying to get as complete of a tree as I can. Besides Mathilda my grandmother's sister, so she would have been my great aunt. I am hoping that they may have some more information about her early life, and my great grandparents.

Staff Sgt. Walter O. Schlosser, of Lake City, Mich.; WW II MIA Airmen Identified

IMMEDIATE RELEASE No. 1206-07
October 11, 2007
Nine Missing WWII Airmen are Identified

The Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office (DPMO) announced today that the remains of nine U.S. servicemen, missing in action from World War II, have been identified and are being returned to their families for burial with full military honors.

(see link for complete release)

Staff Sgt. Walter O. Schlosser, of Lake City, Mich.;

The burial . . . will be at Arlington National Cemetery near Washington, D.C. on a date to be determined.

Representatives from the Army met with the next-of-kin of these men in their hometowns to explain the recovery and identification process and to coordinate interment with military honors on behalf of the secretary of the Army.

On July 7, 1944, the men were aboard a B-24J Liberator that departed North Pickenham, England, on a mission to bomb a German aircraft factory near Bernburg, Germany. The plane was last seen by U.S. aircrew members in that vicinity. Captured records revealed that it had crashed near Westeregeln, about 20 miles northwest of the target in what would become the Soviet sector of a post-war-divided Germany.

In 2001, a group of German citizens interested in recovering wartime relics and remains learned of a potential crash site south of Westeregeln. Later that year and in 2002, the group found the site and uncovered human remains from what appeared to be two burial locations. The remains and other personal effects, including identification tags, were turned over to U.S. officials.

In 2003, a Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) team excavated the crash site and recovered additional remains, identification tags and non-biological material evidence.

Among dental records, other forensic identification tools and circumstantial evidence, scientists from JPAC and the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory also used mitochondrial DNA in the identification of the remains.

For additional information on the Defense Department's mission to account for missing Americans, visit the DPMO Web site at http://www.dtic.mil/dpmo/ or call (703) 699-11

http://www.defenselink.mil/releases/release.aspx?releaseid=1...

Looking for info on Friedrich Schlosser

I am looking for some help in locating information on Friedrich
Schlosser and his descendants. Friedrich was born in Nonnenroth, Germany in 1837.

Friedrich and his brother Martin, (My great Grandfather) arrived in
the US in August 4, 1857 through NY aboard the Evan Beulien. Martin
went to Rochester and Friedrich was to follow to settle. Friedrich
did not show up and was not heard from again.

If someone could help in finding information on Friedrich I would
greatly appreciate it.
