Looking for Schmidt/ Smith family

I have been looking for my Smith family non-stop for weeks. I need help looking for Theodor(e)SCHMIDT/SMITH (b. abt 1804), his wife Anna Maria (b. abt 1819), their children, Julia (might be from a privous marriage of Theodor' as she was b. abt 1833). Mary A (b. abt 1841), Elizabeth Louise (my gg-grandmother) (b. abt 1840-1843)(these children were from Prussia). The next list of children were born in Wisconsin. There was John (b. abt 1845), Julia (b. abt 1849), Franklin C. and Joseph D., the twins, were born abt 1852, Henry was b. abt 1857 and George was b. abt 1860. My Smith family came from Prussia probably bet 1843-1845 and first settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. By 1860 census Theodor was dead, and the family is in La Crosse, Wisconsin and they have americanized their surname to Smith from SCHMIDT or SCHMITZ. 1860 census, both children named Julia are gone, the youngest is dead but the oldest, I don't know what happened to her. Married, dead? I don't have (access) the 1870 census, so I don't know what it says abt them family then. The 1880 census, my gg-grandmother is married, so I know where she is. John is missing, as are son' Henry and George. Franklin and Joseph are in La Crosse. The mother Anna Maria is living with her son Joseph, he work on the Railroad. Franklin is married to a Rebecca Lee and he also works on the railraod. Both Frank and Joseph look to be dead by 1890 as they are missing from a address directory in 1890. Rebecca Lee, wife to Franklin is listed as widow in 1900. I'd like to be able to find Julia, John, George and Henry and their families if they had any. The info listed with them may provide the missing links to where in Prussia the family came from and birth dates and such. I've tried the LDS site to no avail in regards to records from Prussia (Germany) and in the US. My gg-grandmother Elizabeths death record provided no added help. Though, on a census for Elizabeth' son Lucius, my g-grandfather, in the 1900's it does list Berlin, Germany, which in the old days, bef. WWII it was still called Prussia. Any help is appreciated.
Lawrence Edward Smith(Schmidt)

This is a long shot but, I am searching for my great-grandfather's family. The story goes that They lived In South Carolina where they left with a horse, a cart, a cow and traveled to Arkansas. Lawrence Edward Schmidt is my great-grandfather who came with a sister (Mary), leaving a brother behind in South Carolina because of the Civil War. Great-grandfather apparently changed his name when he arrived in Arkansas because of a lot of others who's name was SMITH and wanting to fit in. He married Mary (Lee) Thompson in Arkansas, 29 Jun 1883. They lived in Malvern, Arkansas and Nida, Oklahoma, and Texas.

If anyone can help find Lawrence's parents and others please let me know. Thank you.

Does anybody remember Schmidt's Bakery in Chester, PA, on Morton Ave, in Sun Village? How about Walter Schmidt born in 1891, in Lodz, Russia? I am trying to get a death certificate for him but he did not ever collect SS since he was in business for himself. Waldemar was never married either. I am told my father is his son & I really need the DC. Does anyone know of a PA database for between the yrs. of 1960-1980's for death records, that is easily accessable so I will not have to search a 10 yr. period? Thank you for the assistance & imput. Pam

Looking for Father

My fathers name was Walter Schmidt, he was a GI during WWII and based in Germany around 1945 in Munchberg by Hof, his mother and father came from Hannover or Kuhln Germany and he was said to have been born on the ship that they came over on, around 1918. He was supposed to be their only child. His parents were supposed to have settled either in New York or St. Louis and they operated a business, probably a bakery of some type. I have not been looking for him because I was afraid of the possible rejection and even now I have second thoughts, but I would like to know where my family came from and more about my fathers side of the family. Any help would be appreciated. Contact can be made with me at Petetime@davesworld.net.

I am looking for relatives on the Schmidt side to compare notes and share information with. The Schmidts came from Germany, I know the whereabouts of two brothers, Julius and Albert. There was supposedly at least one other brother, and they all stayed in New York for a bit. I know nothing of this other brother. Maybe there is someone who does? Julius died on his homestead. Albert married Margaret Haberkorn. They had 8 children. Two daughters married two cousins with the last name of Steichen. Two sons married sisters with the last name of McCall. If someone has ties to any of these surnames, please feel free to contact me. Thanks!

I am looking for information for my mother-in-law. Her father was Edward Waldemar Esbond Schmidt b. 1911 in New York.

His father was Frederick August Schmidt (although sometimes went by August Schmidt), b. 1873 in Germany, we think Berlin. He was married to Gertrude Rhoades Coons, and had at least 5 children, Frederick, Gertrude, William, Herman, Edward and Mary. They married in New York but moved to Hunterdon, NJ between 1900 and 1910.

The only thing we possibly know about Frederick August's parents is they were possibly born in Bremen, Germany (taken from their son Herman's census record) and had 4 other children, Adda, August, Lena and William.

If any of this rings a bell, please get in contact!
I am seeking information of a John Schmidt family who lived in Brillion, Wisconsin around the turn of the century. They had (at least) two children - Herman and a younger boy. John was a cousin to my Grandfather, Enoch Schmidt (1883-1975, who was the son of Carl Freidrick Wilhelm Schmidt (1845-1931) and came to Kansas. I am trying to find the connection to the Schmidt families in Brillion, WI. I do have pictures of the Wisconsin Schmidts. I believe there was also another brother to Carl F.W. who moved to Oklahoma.

Given that they are German, this is probably the original name.
Head of household is referred to as Peter in 1850, 1860 and 1870. He is George P. in 1880.
Wife is referred to as Elizabeth in 1850 and 1860. She is Ann in 1870. I think they are the same woman, since age and birthplace are comparable in all censuses but 1860 (in which I think her age is misstated).

Found in the Census:
1850 New York City Ward 2, page 243
1860 New York City Ward 7, District 2, page 123
1870 New York City Ward 7, District 2, page 59
1880 New York City ED 86, p 26 (address 140 E Broadway)

William J. Christian, Jr: Schmidt birth family from Schenectady, New York area

I'm searching for my husband William J. Christian, Jr.'s birth family named Schmidt. All we know is his mother was about 15 when she gave birth to him and he was born in Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, New York on March 10, 1949. My in-laws adopted him through Ellis Hospital when he was a little over a year old. I'd like to connect to his birth family and see if he has any other siblings or parents and grandparents still alive. My husband's birth mother would be about age 74 now. We have no information on his birth father. I have a copy of his adoption birth certificate and his mother is listed as living at R.F.D. which we assume means rural free delivery or living in the farm country part of New York area around Schenectady, Albany, Renselaer or Plattsburg area. Does anyone recognize this "Schmidt" family.
Annmarie
BlondiNativeAme3@yahoo.com
Southampton, Massachusetts

I am looking for relatives of my grandfather's sister. She was born in 1893 in Poland. At the time, it was under Russian jurisdiction, but she was ethicly German.

She joined her brother (Edward Schmidt)in 1911. He settled first in Jersey City, NJ and then Brooklyn. To my knowledge, she never married, lived in Manhattan, but had a daughter named Helen. I believe there were other relatives in the Philadelphia area. My mother used to say she had cousins there connected with the name Helen and Ben Mason.

Other than finding her on the ship and on the marriage certificate of my grandmother as a witness, I see no other records. I've looked in the SS death indexes and there are so many, I was hoping to find one of her descendents for help. Thanks.

Schmidt's in Michigan - Conrad Heinrich "Karl" Schmidt, b 27 Mar 1849, Germany m Katharina Diefenbach, b 6 Dec 1849, Germany

I am trying to locate some of the Schmidt family, which were located in Michigan. I have no further information about them. My grandfather Conrad Heinrich "Karl" Schmidt, b: March 27, 1849 in Grebenau Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany. He came to the US in Mar 1883. His wife Katharina (Diefenbach) Schmidt, b: December 06, 1849 in Grebenau Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany. She came to the US in Apr 1884 with their five children: Heinrich, Charles, Jacob, Hermann, and Gustov. There was also one nephew with her who was bound for Michigan his name is unknown. I made contact with family in Germany who stated there was family in Michigan, but they had lost contact with them years ago. Does anyone have information about the Schmidt’s in Michigan?

August Schmidt Family immigration to US 1882

My GG Grandfather August Schmidt came to America in 1882. He is listed on the ship manifest arriving with his mother, step father and half brother. I am told that my GG Grandfather had two sisters, one is Mary/Marie/Maria and the other is Unknown. This unknown sister stayed in New York. The GG Grandfather and his one sister came to Michigan. The other sister that stayed in New York, had a daughter named or was called Effie. I have no married names for either the sister or Effie. Effie lived in Jackson Heights NY in the 1940's according to my father who visited her during that time. Efie married and had a daughter named Marie...I have no married name for Effie or Marie. So..how do I find my Aunt Effie???
