Bea J. (Hunter) Schmoe passed away at the age of 93 on July 7, 2005, at Sharon Care in Centralia, Washington, after suffering from Alzheimer’s for a number of years. Bea was born September 18, 1911 in Canton, North Carolina, to Carlos Marion Hunter and Sallie ‘Mimmy’ (Bailey) Hunter. The family moved west when Bea was eight years old. She graduated from Toppenish High School in 1929, and attended business college in Yakima. Bea married Paul H. Schmoe in 1937 at the Grand Coulee Dam. Paul was a Washington State Trooper and they lived in Colville, Mt. Vernon, Washougal, and Toppenish. After retirement, they traveled throughout Mexico and resided in Arizona and Washington. She was preceded in death by her father in 1928, her mother in 1982, her husband in 1972, her sister, Mary Hendricks in 1997, and her daughter, Paula J. Randolph in 2002. Bea is survived by her son-in-law Richard Randolph of Palm Desert, California, Granddaughters Kim Randolph-Meaney of Ephrata, Washington, Sue Randolph of Albion, Pennsylvania, niece Beth Krieger of Yakima, Washington, six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Graveside services will be held at the Zillah Washington Cemetery on Tuesday, July 18th, 2005 at 1:00 p.m.
