I seen your posting on the Schneider family.
I am connected to some Schneiders with the sur name of
Joseph. As you know the Schneiders back then were like the Smiths nowdays. So many that it is hard to determine which is yours.
Here is my line.
The oldest Schneider is Joseph and Barbara Pieffer Schneider
Joseph was born in Germany about 1834, give or take a couple of years.
They immegrated to Clearfield Co. Penn in about 1850, again ggive or take a couple of years. They had several children and my line is Joseph Schneider/Snyder. This family changed the spelling of their name when they were naturalized, although the old Joseph still went by the old spelling mostly. He lost his right to vote at one time because he was caught distilling without a permit.
I recall my Dad telling me who old Joseph's fathers name was and I believe it was Adam and there was a Adam in Clearfield Co. Penn. I have been trying to find Joseph Schneider back in Germany, but have run into a brick wall. So very sad. I have done extensive searches on the other family names in my tree and have had all good luck. Now, I have decided to take the DNA test. Hopefully this will help me out. I just ordered it ($108- includes shipping & handling). It has not arrived. So very excited maybe we can make the same connection. Take care
