ZANESVILLE: Erika Martha (Scudder) Strain, 76, of Zanesville, Ohio passed away March 30, 2013 at her residence.
Erika was born July 27, 1936 in Mannheim, Germany, the daughter of the late Hermann and Anita (Thalhammer) Schneider.
A graduate of Tullahoma, TN High School and Wittenberg University, Springfield, Ohio, Erika retired from the Philo High School where she taught German for 22 years.
Those who knew Erika know that she loved her students deeply and she cherished their continued love and friendship after her retirement.
Erika is survived by her son Martin (Kim) Scudder of Pilot, VA; two sisters, Irmgard (Bill) Best of Berea, KY and Ursula Moses of Port St. Lucie, FL.; she is also survived by her grandson, Chris and great-granddaughter, Jessalyn; Erika also leaves a beloved step-son, Harry Strain, III.
In addition to her parents, Erika was preceded in death by her husband Harry Strain Jr. who passed away in 1998.
The family will hold a memorial service from 1 to 3 pm Saturday, April 27th at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at 104 North Main Street, Roseville, Ohio.www.farusfh.com
