LAS VEGAS – Sylvia Katz passed away in Las Vegas on Thursday, June 27, 2013, at the age of 89.
Sylvia was predeceased by her parents, David and Helen Schneider, and sister, Rhea Schwartz.
Sylvia is lovingly remembered by sons Gary and Michael Solomon; stepson Howard Katz; grandchildren Bonnie Solomon and Emily and Sarah Katz; niece Barbara (Schwartz) Stein; and other loving relatives.
She was born in Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) on June 23, 1924.
She earned a degree at Northwestern University and married Marvin Solomon.
Later she moved to Northbrook, a career in real estate (Koenig and Strey), and married Sol Katz.
Sylvia played bridge and was an avid golfer, retiring to Las Vegas for more time on the course.
She became President of Temple Bet Emet, where she was Bat Mitzvahed.
