Always looking for new Schoch relatives. At the moment I am trying to get mine entered back into my family file. Had to almost go back to the beginning because of a hard drive that decided it didn't want to work. With my hard copies I had and the help of others I am slowly getting it back together. Anxious to see where you fit in. I'm just starting on entering Matthias in now.

Sarah McCray
saramac@windstream.net
Schoch Message Board Administrator

Found by looking for something else. A handwritten genealogy of this man extracted from the Catholic Church registry of Moosbroon (Baden, Germany). Doesn't connect with my family from Rust, Baden. Goes back to about 1761. From the date (1935)it may be the basic information for applying for an Ahnen Pass (proof of Aryan blood) Franz Josef Schoch, b.12 Oct 1865; Sebastian Schoch 1823-1907: Franz Anton Schoch, b.1792; Johann Martin Schoch, d 1821, 60 years old.

Thanks, Stephen, for getting the ball rolling for our Schoch message board. I was going to call for a roll call on the boards and on the list but I guess you did it for me. Everyone join in. Looks like we have one match already. If you get your information out there someone is going to see it and it may be just the one who can knock your brick wall down. And it may just sit in the archives until years later and then you get a hit. That is what has been happening to me lately. Posts 6 years old are getting hits. I was trying to finish up something on some of my other lists. Remember, this message board is gatewayed to the mailing list which has 30 subscribers. Let's get some matching done. Thanks everyone for participating. Sarah McCray, your message board and mailing list administrator.

Schoch b. 25 Dec 1840, Berks Co., PA, married Daniel S. Rankin 1854 in Montgomery Co., IN, then onto Iowa for the 1856 & 1860 census, then to Shawnee Co., KS, where they are both buried.

I am interested in corresponding with any other family researchers of Mary's line.

Debbie in Oregon

I am looking for information about the ancestry of Anthony Schoch who came to America on board The Minerva from Rotterdam in 1767...have nothing about him prior to his voyage to America. He married a Nancy Tutwiler/Tutwiller in 1781, had a child, Mose in 1784-85 and died in 1786 in Greenbrier County, WV/VA....need to know the country he emmigrated from, anything about his family before coming to America. Does anyone else have family that came to America on this voyage? Perhaps this could help determine where he came from.

[Mary?] Catherine Schoch b. Germany c. 1849 m. Jared Derk

Hello! I am looking for information on a Catherine who might have been Mary Catherine Schoch from Baden, Germany. She would have been born circa 1849 in Baden Germany. She married Jared Derk somewhere around 1870. They lived in and around Shamokin, Pennsylvania. In the 1870 Census they are listed as "Derck"s and in 1880 as "Dook"s. I do not know when she emigrated to the US, but it would have obviously been between 1850 and 1870. Does anyone know anything about this woman? Her daughter, Clara Derk was my great-grandmother. Clara married John Gessner of the Shamokin area, Northumberland County around 1903. Thank you!!!!!!!!

Kristin

John M. Schoch - of PA

As far as we know, John M. Schoch had only one brother who died at age 7 months. He had one step sister Catherine who never left PA. There is speculation that John's father, Johannes, moved to Lycoming County, married a much younger woman and had a whole seperate family, but we have no proof of that. There was a large Schoch family in Snyder County, PA also.

The Holy Bible Containing the Old and New Testament, New York,
American Bible Society, 1880. [Minion Ref. 12 mo.] On the cover
in gold -- "A.F. Schoch." The back cover is detached.

This Bible is in good condition, with a couple pages that have come
loose. In the middle, only one page remains in the family register
section. Inside the front cover I found a list of names and dates
on a loose and folded sheet of paper. I cannot tell if or how these
people are related to the Schoch family. I think it was probably
written all at the same time -- after 1941. It is all in the same hand
and on later graph paper.

Transcribed by and in the possession of Tracy St. Claire, tracy@stclaire.org .

SURNAMES:
SCHOCH
STODDARD
FINNERTY

-----------------TRANSCRIPT STARTS-----------------

[Page One -- Front Flyleaf]

First Communion Jan 9th 1881
from your pastor Wm.
Georg Christoph Schoch, b 1704>PA in 1743

I have found Georg Christoph Schoch, b 1704 as being of Gailsbach, Neckar, Wuerttemberg. He was baptised in Mainhardt. Gailsbach was a part of Mainhardt Parish. Teh two villages were just over a mile apart.

George Christophf Schoch arrived 26 Sept. 1743 on the ship "Rosannah". The Captain had written his name as Christaf Shake. We have not located George Christophf Schoch/Shake in America. We suspect he could be the father of Christopher Shake, d. Jefferson Co., KY, in 1803; however, this is mere sepulation at the time.

The pattern of migration appears to be Philadelphia to Lancaster Co. area, to Westmoreland, PA, area and after the Revolutionary War to the area of Kentucky around Nelson Co.

Any ideas, clues, suggestions are appreciated.

I have a photo entitled 'Grandad Schoch and family', you can find the picture here:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/kriss_e_99/64504271/in/set-1437...

I had always assumed they were related to my Robert's line, as the photo was with some other photos of Robert's folks. But I have recently uncovered a Montgomery Co, PA line of REIGNER. Not sure if it is the same as your REGNIER.

Do you have a date, or a place?

Schochs in Michigan

I am looking for any information about three daughters of Nicholas Schoch (1840-1902) and Mary Zimmerman (1846-1905) from Chesaning, Saginaw, Michigan. The daughters are Caroline Schoch (1871-1926), Louisa Schoch (1873-1939), who supposedly married someone named Brusach, and Margaret (Maggie) Schoch (1863-1935) who married Samuel Phillips (Philips). If anyone has any information about the location, children or spouses of the above, I would appreciate your assistance.

Thank you.

Virginia Wise
